June 13, 201214 yr I think I have lowest price possible for being a long-standing member, but I'm not sure how. I took a year-long break without membership and yet I still only pay $5.95 a month. Anyways, I'm starting to zone out on Runescape, and that's when I know I need a break. I won't quit, but I'm definitely not motivated at all to do the things I wanted to do. So, I'm asking, is there a way to preserve my membership price without continuously extending my membership? I don't remember the deal Jagex gave out that let me have this low price. Also, out of curiosity, is this the lowest price? Aren't there some people who only pay like $5?
June 13, 201214 yr I believe the only way to keep your price is to continue paying members. Once you let your sub lapse and you go to get members again you will pay the new slightly higher sub fee.
June 13, 201214 yr I'm still playing 5.95 CAD for my membership even though I've let it lapse many times before. No idea how the system works either.
June 13, 201214 yr Author I know you can lapse for a while before they kick in the new price, they even tell you that you get a week before they reset your loyalty points right? I know I went for 5 days in May because the bank was closed and I was lazy (didn't get the Mad May thing). Anyone have any concrete numbers about how long I can just quit. Paying an extra $2 doesn't sound that great, but neither does paying $6 and feeling guilty. I know I sound kind of thrifty, but it's just how I am. I never take anything for granted which means I never manage to fall into dire straits .
June 13, 201214 yr Also, out of curiosity, is this the lowest price? Aren't there some people who only pay like $5? Yes there are. I only pay $5 a month 'cause I became a member when it was that price and have kept up membership continuously ever since then. Can't help you with the other question though - haven't ever dropped membership, so it's never been an issue for me. As I understand it if you drop membership and come back later your price jumps up to the current going price, but I don't know that for sure (and the answers above me seem to disprove that). June 13, 201214 yr Jagex changed their pricing policies a while back when they upped the prices. I think now when your membership runs out you have like a 14 day grace period to renew and keep your current price. After that, you'll pay the new price ($7.95/month U.S.) from then on. It used to be, if you maintained membership for 12 consecutive months, they'd put you in a lower paying tier. But Jagex did away with that policy not that long ago. So now once you are in the new tier of pricing, there's no way to go back and get the old price. So, no, the only way to keep your current price is to continue paying for membership. And don't quote me on the 14 day thing either; it might only be 7 days or something. The details are on the rs website somewhere.
