Under the FAQ section for the TT basics page it says that

 

 

"8. Do I keep my clue scroll if I die?

No, unless your clue scroll happens to be one of the three most valuable items in your inventory when you die."

 

This isn't true anymore, since they updated the 'items kept on death interface' when dying most untradeable items will be kept automatically on top of the 3 chosen items, which includes clue scrolls.
