What should I be doing in Runescape?

Its been quite a while, and I am just curious what I should do to get the most out of playing the game again. Is membership worth it? What about money making, what should I level up?

Membership is absolutely worth it assuming you have the disposable income to allow it.

 

Moneymaking in f2p generally doesn't get much better than 200-300k/hr. GOP water tallies are the only method I know of.

 

Leveling up depends on your stats. Post 'em.

39 - attack defence strength, 53 mining 50 smithing... 54 woodcutting, 36 ranged, and everything else is below 30... but it wasnt bad back when I played more :)

you could try leveling mining and smithing up for money, steel bars and higher usually sell well, along with any ore after iron (except gold and silver)

for a method of also leveling up magic, use the superheat spell for your smithing. it actually provides more mage exp than high alching

Kimberly is right about GOP water tallys being one of the best F2P moneymakers (aside from mining/smithing Rune, neither of which you can do right now). Aside from that, your best option is flipping items on the G.E. which, if you have some cash to spare, can bring in quite a bit while you do other things.

I'm sitting at 107k. I may as well start mining, I'll buy a rune pickaxe, the grand exchange is pretty handy.
