Attack of the logic puzzle...

I got bored and started doing some logic puzzles, then decided to try and make my own.

 

Wanna see if anyone can manage to solve it:

 

Eight guests shared a table at a wedding each wore a different colour, had a different meal, drink and brought a different gift. Seats were number left to right.

Who forgot to bring a gift?

 

1) Harry wore a Green shirt

2) Anne brought a Clock

3) The person who gave Cash was next to the Water drinker

4) The person who drank Vodka wore Blue

5) Brock was wearing Black and in seat 3

6) Brock and his sister could not remember which gift was which but they know they bought the plates and silverware

7) The person wearing Blue was sat to the right of the Juice drinker

8) Daniel wore White

9) The Wine drinker was to the left of the Beer drinker

10) Brock's sister wore red and ate Salmon

11) The person who had Beef was to the left of the Salmon

12) Charlotte's brother ate a Burger

13) Charlotte drank Coke whilst her boyfriend drank Milkshake and wore Green

14) The person who brought the Gravy Boat had a Beef

15) The person left of the Clock giver drank Beer

16) The person in seat 5 had Pizza but did not drink Coke

17) Zach ate Cake

18) The person wearing orange had alcohol - the person in purple was their designated driver so only had water

19) A woman ate pizza

20) The person wearing Yellow was in the last seat

21) Eve had the Salad with a cup of Tea

22) The person who brought Silverware was next to someone drinking Beer

23) The person in seat 1 brought Towels and had the Chicken

24) The Tea drinker brought Giftcards

25) Michelle was in seat 2 and had Lobster

26) Zach was in seat 4

 

Edit: Slightly amended clue 12 and 13 just because I managed to fail to mention the 8th food being Burger

Uhhh, I spent a good hour doing this are you sure it is logical sensible?

 

Been at it for more than 2 hours. I'm calling it a night. Bloody clues 9 and 15 throw me off.

 

Unless one of the men is a transvestite.

 

 

Gonna say either zach or Michelle, swinging towards michelle.

I liked it :) Got a little stuck at one point, the left/right clues gave me the most trouble I think. But once I got past a certain point, it all fell into place, basically as most logic puzzles do. How long did it take you to come up with?

Took me a maybe 40 mins or so to invent the basis of it - but then took me another hour or so running through it without my own notes to find slight issues eg On one test I realised there was nothing to indicate Zach's seat number and at one point I realised on of the 'next to' cools was slightly wrong.

Stage 2 - First placements

 

 

Of the 4 women only Charlotte and Anne need meals so one of them must eat Pizza and the other must be Brock's sister.

Charlotte already has coke in place. Therefore Anne takes pizza and seat 5, whilst Charlotte must be Brock's sister taking Red and Salmon.

 

Further to this if Charlotte is Brock's sister then Brock is Charlotte's brother meaning he ate the Burger.

As Beer is left of the Clock and the Clock is in seat 5 Beer must be in seat 4 with Zach, putting Wine in seat 3 with Brock.

Beer is also next to silverware, this means it can only go with seat 5 or 3 now so it has to go with Brock in seat 3. With this in place we also know Charlotte must've brought the plates.

Vodka is to the right of juice, or to twist the phrase: Juice is left of Vodka. As Vodka is paired with blue only Anne or Michelle can drink it - but if Anne drank Vodka Zach would need to drink Juice, which he cannot, allowing us to give Vodka and Blue to Michelle (and amend clue 11 to say seat 1 also drank juice).

 

At this point only Water and Juice are not on the board for drinks - this means all the alcoholic drinks have been placed; since Michelle already has Blue and Brock has Black Zach has to be wearing Orange.

Harry had beef so he must've brought the Gravy boat

Anne had water so must be in purple

By elimination this means Eve wore Yellow, placing her in Seat 8

Beef left of Salmon means Harry is 6 and Charlotte is 7

Cash next to water means seat 4 or 6 gave cash, which means it must be Zach.

Which leaves us with 1 final gap - Michelle brought no Gift.
