I'm sorry to hear that...

My grampa had alzheimers, he got it about a year before I was born. I only saw him once or twice when I was about 7, it was sad seeing him. He was a long time smoker also, so whereever he went he had to have an oxygen tank/IV thing in him. The only thing I remember is taking a long walk through a forest path in Maryland with him, my family was there with him... About 2 years later we were in the Grand Canyon and he died. My dad was flown out to go to the funeral, and we couldn't afford the plane tickets for all of us to go...

Bellz, if you are religious, think of it as he is in a better place. If not, don't feel bad if you are upset or even cry. I was at a camp when my grandfather passed and I cried my eyes out in front of people when I found out.He had had a brain tumor for about a year, so it wasn't really unexpected. But it was still sad.

Just be there for the rest of your family. Together you can support eachother.

Bellz: I'm very sorry to hear that... But, he's in a better place now, watching over you.

@Pink: My grandfather has alzheimer's right now. He was diagnosed with it a few years ago, and he's currently in a nursing home, since my grandmother simply cannot take care of him anymore. It's so sad seeing him waste away like this. He'll try to tell me and my brother stories of his childhood, stories he used to tell us when we were younger and he didn't have alzheimer's... and he struggles through them, or just cannot remember them. But, I can remember them. At Christmas, I had to help him open his gifts. (He was happy that he got candy though. ^_^) He rarely remembers any of our names. Though, my grandmother tells me that he has always remembered mine...

Chin up, mate. It must hurt a lot for you now and there's no shame in showing it. Make sure you support your family through it and, most importantly, make sure you look after yourself.

If it helps at all, think of it this way: how cool must it have been to have a Great Grandpa. A lot of people never have the pleasure, I never got the chance to meet my Grandpa. You can be thankful for the time you had with him and the bit of life you shared together and that's truly a gift. Regardless of your religious beliefs, he'll never leave your side, because he lives on in the precious memories you have. I'm sure he'd want you to remember and cherish them.

Take care pal.

Well it is friday, and I went to a ceremony celebrating my great grand dad's life. It was sad, :( But I was happy to see all the people he has come into contact, that changed their life. He lived a long life =) And I now know that my great grandpa is now in a better place.

Well, seeing as how he had so many people care for him, he must have gone up in to a better place. He loves you. He loved you. He will always love and be proud of you. Remember that.
