All_Is_Great
Hey guys, I want to try for a firecape. My (relevant) stats: 71 range,67 hp,52 prayer, I don't think money should be a problem, and I have funds to train range to 80+ if it's better that way. My theorycrafted setup:Sara mitreglory (will try to purchase fury)Karil's cbow3k bolt racksmonk robe topblack dhide chaps + vambsBoots of lightnessGod cloak What should my inventory setup look like? I'm drawing an absolute blank on that. I think purple sweets are mandatory, how many should I bring? Lastly, how should I approach the waves? Which monster is priority? I've done fight caves before pre-eoc, but I killed jad with deflect prayers and can't really remember the rest. So any help is greatly appreciated! muggiwhplar
When I got my cape w/ 1 def back in the day, I was 70ish range, 43 prayer. My ranged att bonus was 158 (crystal bow), prayer bonus 11, ranged strength 70. I also didn't know that prayer flashing existed.Meaning, if you can configure your gear such that you have stats equal or greater than that, you shouldn't have any problems making it to Jad. karils xbow is better DPS but I always preferred crystal because it has longer range, which makes safespotting and luring easier, especially as a pure. There's some occasions where all the monsters will be hiding behind a wall, and you need to attack a monster from far enough away such that the other monsters can't reach you. Without the crystal bow, you'll take damage during this process. I don't expect you to use ranger boots since they're like 10M, but I can't remember if frog/snake boots require def. If they don't, get either of those since they give +2/+3 range att respectively. I've never used purple sweets for caves, so IDK how many to recommend. Regardless, you'll want to bring 3 ranged pots and 18 prayer pots. The rest can be any configuration of blood spells/sweets/brews/super restores that you want. Basically the trick to surviving the caves these days is to simply take things one wave at a time. If you can survive a wave with a 360 and a 90 but they get you down to like 1hp by the time the wave's over, instead of wasting your brews to get back to full hp, just wait very patiently for HP to max out again before continuing. Save your brews for emergencies when you're down to like 1hp, but the 90 is still attacking you and you'll die if you don't heal. So expect it to take a while. Might look into borrowing a regen bracelet :P Rapid heal drains prayer a lot and it nullifies any prayer flashing which you may be doing. Speaking of which, if you can prayer flash as much as possible, you should have plenty of prayer pots to spare. Monster priority: 22 > 90 > 360 > 180 > 45 (assuming you've got the 180 and 45 safespotted) old guide: http://forum.tip.it/...he-fight-caves/
crazycdcm
Blood burst/barrage are GLORIOUS. I'm not sure if they've updated it in this version, but blood spells always used to heal what you *would* hit, not what you *did* hit. Meaning when you get a 2x45 wave, and split them into their smaller versions, you've got 4 npcs, and even though they have 10 hp only, you can heal up to 7-9 hp off each of them. Though since purple sweets came out, it's a trivial benefit so up to you really. Definitely recommend you practice prayer flashing 360s.

I remembered reading your guide back in the day but i didn't really try to find it. Also hearing that purple sweets aren't mandatory makes me happy, I think i'll give it a try without them since they're super expensive lol. Crystal bow is on my to-get list, so I might do that first. Also, thanks for the tip crazy, I was gonna take blood blitz but didn't think about using burst for AoE.
