November 24, 201312 yr Hey, on my standard account for my Dad Google chrome always needs an admin password to run. I dont want him to be an adminstrator or have that password as he isnt very good with PCs. I have tried compatibility and checking run as admin and stuff like that but nothing will work. I didnt have this problem a month ago. How can I fix this problem?
November 24, 201312 yr Sounds like he/you have an add-on or feature running in chrome that needs admin powers to function. November 24, 201312 yr In chrome add ons are stored within your account, if you re-enter the account details they all come back automatically so a reinstall is by no means a sure fire fix with that. November 29, 201312 yr Author It doesnt need a password if I turn user account settings off but I dont want to do that, as I think its turns it off for every program when I just want it for Chrome.
November 30, 201312 yr Solved. You should post how you solved it, for future readers. "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
December 1, 201312 yr Author Go into the start menu, right click chrome then properties. Go to compatibility uncheck 'run this program as administrator' then click change setting for all users buttons and uncheck the run program as admin again. Then go into shortcuts, advanced and do the same. People of the google groups were telling me to check all of them when you need to uncheck them.
December 3, 201312 yr The same happened to me, just a heads up that there has been a skype type of trojan, that will do the same to your chrome[Caution: Executable File] , it'll detect it and change some settings making it so you need to run as administrator, so if it happens one day you might want to check your laptop/PC.
