70 Ranged Advice

Hi everyone,

 

I just reach 70 ranged and, need some experienced players' advice.

My defence level is also 69, soon 70.

 

I know best range amrour is armadyl armour but it is very expensive so I'm using royal d'hide.

My question is about ranged weapons, here is a few options and stats:

 

double rune crossbow:

damage: - , accuracy: 850+850 (fastest) (ammo: dragon or diamond bolts)

 

rune 2h crossbow:

damage: 637, accuracy: 850 (average) (ammo: dragon or diamond bolts)

 

dark bow:

damage: 892, accuracy: 1486 (slowest) (ammo: dark arrow) [+ armor and hp bonus]

 

black salamender:

damage: 892, accuracy: 1486 (average) (ammo: harralander tar)

 

crystal bow:

damage: 1286, accuracy: 1486 (fast) (ammo: no ammo) (this will take time to earn cuz I don't have 56 agility to make it's quest yet.)

 

Note: Dragon crossbow or dragon 2h crossbow are extremely expensive, I don't think I pay that much to them.

 

- Waiting any of your advices for my weapon choice, cuz I know everything is not as it looks in the stats. Need some experienced players' advice. Thank you for now.

Black salamander when you're fighting stuff weak to Bolts, Crystal bow when fighting stuff weak to Arrows.

Could even choose one of the two and stick to just that one.

Chin in the abyss

I use veracs armor on my alt. It doesn't affect your accuracy too much and allows you to have much longer trips.

Don't bother ranging anything else.

In general I'd stick with the black sally, especially if you're using abilities and not just momentum.  Crystal bow may technically be better, but probably not worth the extra cost.

 

As far as armor goes, Karil's gear is also level 70 ranged armor and much cheaper than Armadyl.  If you're absolutely strapped for cash you could just do the world event and get the hybrid armor from that.  At lvl 75 defence it's got the same life points boost as Bandos/Arma/Subj. Robes and just a little lower armor rating, plus it's good for any attack style and it's free!

 

(FYI, if you need to earn some cash you should come to the TMHT event tomorrow.  Our events are mostly for fun rather than profit, but I generally come away from them at least a few mil richer  :))

The dark bow is only 76 k and is as good as crystal or black sally. Any of those are going to serve you fine for range tasks. What hedge said is the best way to level though so if you're looking to power level and can afford chinning I would recommend doing as he says.

thank you for all answers but I didn't understand what does chin mean?

 

edit: with some research I found about chins. so red chins are uuseefull for training cuz they hit multiple enemies , isn't it?

Yes. Make sure to use Momentum, not abilities.

Not exactly; Hybrid armour has a 15 level penalty, meaning that it has the same Armour and LP boost as Dragon, Grifolic and Black dragonhide.

 

I wouldn't really say it's free (opportunity cost and stuff like that), but that's a discussion for another time.
