Display Name: Holding Duration?

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering for how long my original username will be held from when I changed it. The RSWiki says 28+7 days (from the date changed), but I could have sworn that much older accounts got their names reserved for longer than that.

28+7 is the bare minimum, that only applies if you held your previous display name exactly for 28 days and changed again as soon as you could.

The reserve time goes up all the way to 6 months, depending on how long you held your old name for.

So, is there any way to know how long?

You keep it as long as you had it, with a minimum of 28 days and a maximum of 6 months

This is about as accurate an answer as you'll get.

There are some nuances like your original account name (if you pre-date email log on) is held for a much longer time frame.

Certain famous account names are perma-saved (eg Zezima)

And the top ranks of hiscores (I wanna say top 1k but I'm not sure) also get perma saved.

Alright :\

Thanks for the answers, I guess I'll have to email JaGEx though. Not being able to know the exact length doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
