That seems kind of rediculous, I'd love to hear something officially from Jagex on it before they start banning.

 

To me it seems perfectly legitimate, I'd understand if they didn't approve of it and publically threatened to ban if you used it, but I'd want a warning or something first as it's not obviously against any rules that I'm aware of.

I know but its the same exact concept of bolting for pvp risk and maging spiders under lumby overnight, they cant do much to detect it but it does go against the rules

If this was about afking NMZ, then no, it's not against the rules, as confirmed by JMods and the fact there was a poll about it a few months back.  Only way it's illegal is if you're using a macro to stay logged in, so in-combat afking is legal.

I searched reddit a bit, which is where I thought I saw a JMod post about it, but didn't find anything.  However,http://services.runescape.com/m=poll/a=50/oldschool/results.ws?id=769  question 27 implies it's fine.

Its not whether it can be implied as fine, Jmods would have to explicitly state this is an exception to the rules. Im 100% sure they do not intend people to afk the game overnight, but rather assume people sit watching netflix and dont click every 5 mins

I would say the fact they polled it is a pretty clear indication it isn't against the rules - they've stated quite recently, in regards to the built-in autotyper, that they don't poll things when it's part of banning rule breakers or fixing exploits.  Hence, I'm 100% sure that afking NMZ is fine.

This assumption also would require JaGeX to actually have a clue about players actually doing this (which they dont). They have no idea about how NMZ is used for xp- they think its just dominion tower from EOC for fun (exactly how it was polled to be)

I find this funny because I vividly remember using dominion tower for xp too.

 

 

I tweeted like all the OSRS/Jmod things I could find with questions about guthans NMZ but didn't get a response from anyone. I'm sure they're aware of NMZ for xp in general, maybe not the intracies such as the absorb 1 hp glitch or guthans, but I'm sure they see 1k people in w330 and note that as a point of interest.

Mck, what do you think that poll means then?  Why would NMZ be an exception to that?  What's the difference rule-wise between NMZ afking and bandits afking?  I don't see why there would be any discrepancies.  

 

 

However, I do agree - Jagex has no idea how people are actually using NMZ.  I'm 99% sure they still don't understand why people use boosters.

Im willing to bet they have no idea people can go to sleep in guthans and get xp overnight anywhere, the 07 team doesnt understand how those 2 places will not lose aggro over 6 hours.

 

You guys know getting xp while asleep has never been in the spirit of the game. Im not arguing if theyll ban you, but the jmods definitely wouldnt approve.

Meh, afking bandits overnight with a god cape on has been a thing since guthans came out.  It certainly isn't really in the spirit of the game, but they've shown that they don't really care about it.
