Piece 18 - A Vue D'Esprit/Photoshop production

Featured Replies

Unfortunately, I'm an awful painter. I couldn't paint to save my life, but luckily I can use a combination of Vue D'esprit and Photoshop to mimic a painting to some degree. I think it turned out well.

Feel free to comment. One person didn't know what the image was talking about so I'll add my reply to his question as well.

In short, it's a section of a garden. It began as an experiment in Vue D'esprit. I wanted to see if I could create an pseudo-abstract piece by placing that brown basket like thing in the main view and creating a miniature island with palm trees inside it in the water. I then decided to add in some vegetation and rocks to fill up the scene and make it into a garden. Using photoshop, I finally applied several filters and airbrushed a little to give it the painted effect and border.

The filter completely demolished it. :? From what I can see, it could have had some potential before that, but it's extremely difficult to tell.

It seems I'm receiving mixed opinions on the paintstroke effect filter. Some like it, others don't. I personally like it so I'm not removing it but I've got a few ideas on how to improve so I'll repost the modified version sometime soon. I'm going to attempt manually placing some "paintstroke perspective" to make objects further from the camera have smaller strokes and slightly adjust the splatter in some areas, such as the yellow flowers to the left, so it doesn't bleed so much.

Alright, if you insist. :)

I'd still like to see what it looks like without that filter though.. ;)

i think the main problem with the filter is that it looks much too pixelized, otherwise if you get it to look like its painted that would look really cool.

that doent look anything like a painting........
