How much is 7m worth these days

Featured Replies

I retired about about 7-8 years ago now, and but I've been thinking about grabbing the free month of membership from a twitch prime trial and playing again while it lasts. But first, I wanna know how far behind I am in the power creep these days.

Checking my bank, I've got about 7.7 mill in gold, and then just the basics (or at least the basics from when I left) for remaining equipment: An abby whip, void knight armor, dagon'hai robes, black d'hide, rune crossbow, magic shortbow, a bunch of bunyip pouches, that kind of thing.

I'm wondering how much the power of my equipment has degraded over the years, and whether I would be able to afford worthwhile stuff if I rejoined.

If it helps, I think I would mostly want to do quests. I don't think I'll be able to get the 101 quest points for my cape back, but I could at least make a start, and see if I enjoy myself.

It might also be nice to know if I can get the necessary money to play in a decent amount of time (without merching, if that's still a thing). My stats:

Edit: I just looked at the abby whip. 70k. Rip. There goes a clean mil, lol

That's disappointing...

Upside, my 30k fire runes went from being work 30k to 1.4m lol. Similar for the green dragon hides I had for grinding crafting.

I'm just going to use this thread for various basic questions, I guess. Is there a HYT chat these days? I know Serpent Eye had it at one point, but idk if it still exists these days.

On the plus side, it is slightly easier to upkeep your membership. If you make a reasonable effort doing dailies like vis wax, reselling runes/other items from shops when profitable, and sprinkle in a few hours of dragon slaying, Slayer, or your favorite form of combat, it should be possible to upkeep your membership indefinitely as long as you stick to it. Rune crossbow, magic crossbow, and that sort of thing are essentially Invention disassembly fodder these days - you can get equipment a few tiers higher for not much cost through various TH promotions/other gimmicks, or straight up cash. I'm not sure how accessible they are if you haven't been playing for a while, though. Void armor is kind of borderline just for the fact that it has the damage and accuracy bonus. If you're not fighting something where you take too much damage, or someone else is taking a tank role so you can dps, you should be okay. In the context of quests it might be more of a liability than a help - depending on how much of the damage you're taking is typeless/unblockable. Sadly I don't remember too many of the details as I rushed most of the quests toward the end, but I had much higher tear gear. As for worthwhile stuff, you could probably get enough for most of the weapons at the tier 80/85 level (requiring 80/85 in offensive stat) and tier 70 armor without too much trouble. It gets rather exponentially steep after that though, particularly on the weapons sides of things. For example, a noxious longbow (t90) will cost ~120m, and a set of t92 crossbows will be close to a couple billion.

I'm not sure about HYT chat - if there's any update beyond Serpent Eye than I haven't kept up with it subsequently, as that's the last I heard, but it could well be old information. If you need any more tips or information on things please do ask!

Consider picking up Masuta's Warspear and start slaying for cash. You will need 82 attack to use it though, so you might want to get that level first using a Saradomin sword.

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
