WutangFlu
if you want a gaming machine your better of buying parts and building your own machine... that computer u showed is going to be obsolete in a year or two. so either wait... or buy GOOD parts and build it yourself *that if you dont want a labtop if u want a gaming laptop, try to get a dell or alienware i'd imagine, im not into "portable gaming" *256MB RAM = OUCH have fun is all i can say.. :| horrible... Shared Video RAM (Max): 128mb - You'll want more TRUST ME.. 256mb is what u want. 1 RJ-11 (modem): :S yeah.. like i said.. obsolete in several years... that computer is more geared tward the business man. or "casual gamer" like somone who plays the original quake games.. quake 3, blah blah, maby counter strike.. and even it.. if your into FPS games then ur gunna want a keyboard+mouse not a touch pad thing. Albosky
On a laptop , you wont get anymore then 128mb shared video memory , which really isnt that bad , but remember that onboard video is always a scaled down chipset. The laptop you posted isnt really bad , just considering buying additional memory to install in it :) I like to fart silently but deadly in movie theatersArd Choille says (11:41 PM):I wouldn't dare tell you what to do m'dear
Militaris
The laptop you are looking at does not really meet the minimal specs for todays game. It would be struggling the day you brought it. I say it is already obsolete for gaming. The specs for a basic gaming computer today roughly would be.. CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200 (or simalar) GPU: GeForce 6600 GT (or Better, I normally suggest a 6800 GS or 7800GT (the names, and corresponding preformance can be very confusing)) Memory: 2x 512MB Dual Channel With regards to the computer you chosen. The processor on that computer should be fine (games are rarely CPU limited). It does not have a video card, rather it uses a intergrated graphic solution, the preformance would be poor at best. It only has 256mb of memory, and that would be shared with the intergrated graphics.... It is simply not a gaming machine. If you want a laptop which would be a decent gaming machine it would cost into the thousands of dollars. The pre-made desktops are also generally not good at gaming, they generally have a good processor, but they completely cheap out on the video card. Like what others have already suggested the best option would be to select your own parts, and join them yourself, or get the store to do it for you. If you need any help on parts, feel free to ask. I included a example for a a cheap but decent desktop. CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103535 $166.00 GPU: eVGA Geforce 6800GS CO SE 256mb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130271 $154.00 (After rebate) Hard-Drive: Western Digital Caviar 160GB $77 Memory: CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) $69 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 Socket 939 $76 PSU (power supply): ENERMAX Noisetaker 485W $76 Desk drives: $45 Case: 'Something' $75 Total: $745 Then it would need extra for Monitor, Speakers, Keyboard, windows ect
runesmithie
If you really don't want to build your own computer you could look at places like eMachines with cheap desktops that are pretty good (I guess it's all about quality refurbished parts) I just posted something! ^_^ to the terrorist...er... kirbybeam. Suzanne_Vega
I work in computers, and out of over 1200 non-corporate computers I've worked on I have had more problems with 3 brands than anything else, as in over 70%. Those 3 are Packard Bell, MDG and eMachines. Suzanne Vegatokin rite wurx gud!

Suzanne_Vega
I have seen no correlation between the PEBKAC factor and the type of computer. What I have seen is, cheap computer = higher likelihood of failure. Quality computer = lower likelihood of failure. I do know some people who have had all three of the abovementioned brands and are delighted with them, and have never had a single problem outside of minor software glitches or a need to upgrade, but overall they are generally not very good quality.
