Is visiting Egypt for a vacation a good idea?

I am considering doing it next year as I love the damn pyramids there, they are historically significant. I am aware that free speech is very limited there, but do they at least treat the tourists right? Thank you.

Wouldn't recommend it. Without going into details, if the US Government is advising against travel, that's a good enough reason to reconsider.
