Before talking to professor, have a COORDINATE clue scroll in your inventory, and Examine it before as well. But, Treasure Trail Guide always helps. Make sure you're in the house North of the Observatory, not IN the Observatory. 2. Make sure you don't already have the navigation tools (warch, chart and sextant). 3. Make sure you have your clue WITH YOU. 4. Make sure it's a coordinates clue, not some other kind of clue. The professor will only talk to you about Treasure Trails if you have a coordinates clue.
