BTW, I never advocated amnesty either. Just fixing the process which sounds eerily similar to what you are suggesting. :)

 

 

 

I don't currently have access to it written down so this is what I remember from the top of my head:

 

 

 

1) Increase Border Patrol and put the National Guard on the border (the statistic accompanying this plan is that around 70% of Americans support moving the military to the border. Don't believe it if you don't want to - I'll try and find the statistic).

 

 

 

2) Increase mandatory fines on business hiring unregistered workers. Fines ranging from $100,000-200,000.

 

 

 

3) Give ALL CURRENT ILLEGAL RESIDENTS 2 months to register their status in America. When they register they will be assigned a numbe (to keep track of them - similar to a SSN) and be told they have to pay a fine (they are given about 2-3 years to pay off the fine).

 

 

 

4) After two months, any illegal resident is treated as a felon. Thrown in prison from anywhere between 5-15 years and THEN deported back to Mexico (or wherever they are from).

Actually, I have quite a few friends in the National Guard, and after school some of em are being deployed to the border (there's a fairly large military base at the AZ border that does quite a bit of Border Patrol work).
