Use rune scimmy til there low on health, then pull outthe Rune 2h for the KO, or mage them, that the best :)

The best weapon for F2P is whatever weapon has the highest

 

damage done per second ratio against your chosen monster.

 

 

 

That means you want to hit as hard as you can as often as you can.

 

 

 

In terms of speed, you have something like:

 

Scimmy, Long, Baxe, 2 hander

 

 

 

The damage that you do depends on the defenses of the monster.

Scimmy has weak stab, good slash, and weak crush

 

Long has good stab, good slash, and weak crush

 

Baxe has weak stab, good slash, and good crush

 

2 Hander has weak stab, good slash, and good crush.

 

 

 

So if you are fighting monsters wearing nothing, leather,

 

cloth, or robes then a slashing scimmy would work well.

 

 

 

If you are fighting an enemy wearing chain mail then a stabbing long sword would work well.

 

 

 

If you are fighting a plate wearing enemy then baxe or 2 hander would work.

 

 

 

Jagex has stated that they don't want "a best weapon" like there was in RSC.

 

So, you really have to look at what the monster is weak against

 

and then use the most effective weapon for the job.

 

For many players that is the rune scimmy, longsword, or baxe.

id say mage the ******* at some low lvl (man that was ages ago) i was hitting 14s with mage on non members (make ur own runes and save money... or sell runes and make money aswell :D)

If you are a 1 defence pure, then you must avoid using the alternative attack style if it is "controlled", since it also gives defence XP.

 

 

 

While the melee weapons have stats for all 3 attack types, they are normally capable of only two styles, maybe one.

 

 

 

Against anything not particularly resistant to slash attacks, the Scimmy is the strongest of the fast weapons.

 

 

 

The Long sword is slower, but higher in stats, with a much better alternative stab, though this is "controlled".

 

 

 

You cannot crush at all with either of them.

 

 

 

The Battle axe can slash and crush with the alternataive attack being an aggressive crush - a good all rounder that's only let down by the slow speed.

 

 

 

The two hander has the same attack combinations as the battle axe, and the highest power but the lowest speed (of any F2P weapon).

 

 

 

Don't forget the warhammer, a pure crushing weapon, the style of attack that's most effective against plate, though if you have the choice, magic is a far better weapon against plate armour.
