all that pops up is a gray box with an X in the upper left hand corner

Yeah the same thing happend to me.

Just do the appeal thing and when it tells you that you dont have enough information it says continue appeal or something, and Jagex will check it. I did get my account back a few hours later but I had to change my password and reset my security questions.

What you do is provide them with the sufficient information, it's that simple.

If it's your own account, you should have no problem providing it.

Also as mentioned earlier there's a sticky designated for discussing the recent locking of some accounts.

Jagex has locked many accounts as a PRECAUTIONARY measure. They've not been hacked, Jagex is just trying to be careful and ensure these accounts do not get stolen.

The last two topics have a lot of tips and ideas on what info to supply to Jagex to convince them that "you're you". Some people are saying it's taken them 5-6 appeals before they get it back. They are supplying info such as date of birth, month/year you started playing, etc. The info from payment e-mails is the BEST way to get the account back. Another poster in this forum suggested identifying stuff in your bank, such as what color your cat is, but I don't know if that is relevant or not.

I'm sure you'll manage to get it back, as many have already. Just keep trying.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

my account was locked aswell and I got it back in a few seconds. what I did was 'continue appeal' and I written down every stat I had and what I had in my bank. since it was locked nobody could look into my account and nobody knew what I had in my bankaccount. that's how the knew I was the real owner of the account.
