Ancient Barrows

I recently got Ancient Magicks, and must say I am impressed with the staff's look and the Damage the magicks do, and the convinience of canafis teleport.

However I have realised that, before I had ancient mage, I am actually gaining runes every trip (or at least almost), but I find myself burning through chaos and deaths from Ice Burst, yet ancients seems quite a popular way to barrowing (or at least from my impression)

Now my mage is 74. Would it be efficient enough for me to do barrows fast enough so i hope i get a barrow item to replace the runes i used? Or would i be better off doind slower runs with Chaos Runes/Gaunts?

The idea behind using Ancients is either you want to a) get thru the kills faster and/or B) freeze your target so they cant hit you. This way, you need less prayer. If you're not saving on pots what you're losing in runes, you're wasting your time.

Personally i use slayer dart. I get enough deaths/minds to cover everything i use, and the bloods/chaos are all a bonus. I can't compare it to fire bolt as i've never used it in Barrows, but ive never seen a guide reccomend it over the dart. Get your slayer up! :P

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence, I got repaid with scorn

"Come in'', she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm"
