One of mine was doing this too.

I'm on dialup (ugh)... so i didn't update java. Ooops.

I think it's the problem. make sure it is up to date.

I'm just playing on my other comp now.

Also: If you alt-tab to a thing in full window until RuneScape shows up...

Also.. Mostly happened when I was running a media software.. and worked well after I stopped playing music on that PC while I played.

I hope I was helpful.

Edit: Don't get a mac unless you are doing haredcore rendering.

When I use my mum's laptop that always happens, but on the PC it's really fast. I don't know what's wrong with the laptop but the screen goes white when I click on a world, lol.

I'm pretty sure that even though the screen is all white your Runescape is still loading. The white doesn't go away because the game is still updating itself and the Java window hasn't changed. When the game is fully loaded you should see the game window again. Whenever your game window changes it will make the white go away. You could just have Runescape open and never go into any other windows as a temporary fix. Also Firefox runs runescape kind of funny, I run it in IE.
