  1. edit: trying to delete, cant figure out how. the button says "edit/delete" however I am only finding the edit part edit2: might as well say something ontopic, I cant sing worth beans
  2. OK tip.it is probably a bad forum to be posting this thread on but you never know who might have some info. Would anyone know how I could set up my home internet connection up as a proxy? I.e. be able to pupiteer my home internet connection from work or school?
  3. Hey good luck, try not to fritter away your money on little things that make you happy for a few minutes, AKA food, crack, or what have you. I.E. today--at work theres this immigrant who sells burritos out of her van that comes every lunchtime, I bought one while I was working for three dollars. Then I spent 5.80 at Chipotle for lunch, and another 1.29 for a McFlurry at the mcdonalds across the street after work (I worked almost ten hours today, I figured I deserved it). That's $10.09 on food, in one day!!! When I could have easily brought some sandwiches from my house for free. That really adds up.
  4. As a continuation of the first part of his post, above, why upgrade to XP when you have windows 2000? Windows 2K will run almost all the same programs as XP, and XP will run almost all of what Vista runs. THey're all based off of Windows NT, and the NTFS file system and in a sense Microsoft hasn't released a new OS since windows NT came out. THey're all just upgraded versions of NT. You dont NEED windows vista, it will be cool and handy and most people will want to have it, it will have new graphical features that new programs will take advantage of, but running XP you WILL be able to run just about any program that runs on Vista. Well that was kind of wordy for the two points I made...
  5. You can make a website at tripod.com, they have templates and boxes you can fill in if you can't be bothered to learn HTML, or you can code your site in HTML.
  6. I dunno about that, my Dad told my once the most terrified he has ever seen someone is when they were dying... Alot of people go out scared, well, to death.
  7. kega fusion is the newest and most up to date sega emulator: http://www.eidolons-inn.net/tiki-index.php It also emulates game gear, sega cd, sega master system and i believe it can fry an omelette. If you have trouble with that one then go with the next newest, Gens, which is equally solid and may be a little easier for you to set up, although you shouldnt have trouble with either of them: http://gens.consolemul.com/ If you are looking for ROMs then emuasylum would be a good place to start: http://www.emuasylum.com I used to have all sorts of ROM site links but I haven't messed with emulation much for about 4 years... heh. It was what got me into computers--learning to use google effectively in finding ROMs, learning to set up and configure software, downloading endless ROMs on my 56K modem, download accelerators, posting on gaming forums... I had more fun getting and setting up the stuff then I did actually using any of it. Heh now I have about 1.5 gigs of ROMs just sitting on my hard drive. Okay enough reminiscing, there are you links, have fun young man edit: not to mention getting Spyware, learning to remove spyware and avoid spyware. The only real way to learn is to get spyware and viruses so that you know how to avoid them.
  8. Well I still think Dell is a rip-off, because you can buy your own parts and put together your own computer for less money without a whole lot of technical knowledge. That and I don't like how their hard drives come loaded down with Dell junk and software they think you need, and they use mini-ATX motherboards and crappy cramped cases.
  9. Well Zealot you are doing something that I have started to do recently, that people have been doing since they existed: try to figure out and make sense of existance. We are very complex emotional beings and I could make a career out of trying to understand myself... I recently read two works that touch on this issue. A poem I had to give a speech on in class called "To an athlete dying young" and the book of ecclesiastes. In To an athlete the author says that no matter how great you and your achievements are no on remembers you once they are surpassed, so they are meaningless anyway. For example, who remembers bonebreaker6 anymore? The guy on the top of the high scores for like a year? Hardly anybody. And ecclesiastes, the writigns of a distraught king who had everything available to him yet who was still unhappy. He examines seemingly meaningless life, and concludes that to get maximum satisfaction out of it you should do your very best and have as much fun as you can: and this one: Now ecclesiastes is a complex book and it isn't saying go run wild, it's saying go do your best and have fun and be happy.
  10. Yes but most people do NOT NEED 1 gig of ram. I have a gig of RAM and honestly I don't need it. You need a gig of RAM if you're going to be running new PC games or fancy photo or video editing software. If you use a computer just for internet, word processing and something light like runescape, with music running in the background like 50% of computer owners, then all you need is Windows 98 or 2000 with a pentium 2. Honestly I think that alot of upgrades are unecessary, they are just the computer industry capitolizing on the uninformed. Dell cons people left and right putting people's computers together and telling them they need all these upgrades. NO! YOU DON'T! I could go to a thrift store and get a pentium 2 for fifty dollars and not even miss windows XP and my high-end computer most of the time. Anyway get a gig of RAM, it will be plenty for the next several years. You can upgrade later if you need to
  11. Well you could try Windows movie maker first, because it comes with windows XP. It is located at "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk[Caution: Executable File]" For trimming and moving audio I use a program called Audacity, it works great and it is free and open source
  12. It sounds to me like you're screwed and you need a new install/restore disk. If you have a pre-assembled computer, which I'm guessing you do, you can order recovery disks from the manufacturer. HP does this, and I'm sure every other manufacturer does too. Reply back because I am getting college credit for being a computer tech at my High School and the more experience I have the better
  13. feliz compleanos, hombre!
  14. Top Gear 3000, got in on my SuperNES baby! I recently beat the game on hard with 6 of every upgrade and several million to spare. Thank heavens for secret bonus C and the jump device. Ohhhh baby
  15. I'm looking for my first job right now. I had two interviews last week, one at Evil(Wal)-Mart, and one at a local grocery store. THen this evening a car wash I applied at called and told me to call them tomorrow to set up an interview. So hopefully one of those places will pan out and I will be employed, and hopefully it isn't Wal-mart. I don't want to sell my soul to get a job, I'm thinking I'll decline it even if they offer it to me edit:BTW, kids my age (16, 17ish) out there looking for their first jobs, experience really helps. It doesn't have to be paid, but some volunteer work and a reference from the place you volunteered at can really be helpful on job applications. It looks worlds better on job applications than leaving the boxes for your experience blank. It's not hard and you don't have to spend that much time volunteering, just go find something you enjoy and will have fun doing, take a friend or sibling or somebody with you for company (it helps, at least me, because I'm kind of shy), and go have fun. They had this job presentation at school and networking (that is, jobs from people you know) account for soemthing like 60% of the way people get their jobs. So talk to your relatives, parents, have your parents ask their friends, etc. anyway thanks for listening to old man chocula's lecture, kids
  16. Good man. Also in this whole thread I didn't see anything about actually calling them, maybe I missed it? I for one sometimes forget when doing business online that if I am not happy filling out a complaint form/email is not my only option. There is also the good old telephone!!
  17. My trainers eh? I would have to guess that there are several hundred miles on these things. I go running several times a week and I need a new pair of shoes I think.
  18. I'm pretty sure that even though the screen is all white your Runescape is still loading. The white doesn't go away because the game is still updating itself and the Java window hasn't changed. When the game is fully loaded you should see the game window again. Whenever your game window changes it will make the white go away. You could just have Runescape open and never go into any other windows as a temporary fix. Also Firefox runs runescape kind of funny, I run it in IE.
  19. Go to a used bookstore or a thriftstore and you can get massive amounts of programming tutorial books on the cheap. I recently bought sam's teach yourself c++ in 24 hours for a dollar. Not that I'll ever probably look at it and decide to learn C++, I like having it around, just in case.
  20. It sounds to me like you don't have interference filters for your DSL. They are small adapters that you snap in between your phone jack and your telephone to keep the signals seperate, so that using the phone doesn't interrupt your DSL. If you had a proffesional install there should be filters installed already, so I assume you did the self-install. You (or whoever installed it) probably forgot to add the interference filters. A few interference filters should have came with your DSL, so see if you still have them. If you don't have any you should be able to pick a couple up at Radioshack: http://www.radioshack.com/search/index. ... l%20filter Hook one out of every phone jack that you use, except for the jack with the DSL. If you use a phone from the telephone cable that can come out of the DSL then add a filter from the phone out jack on your DSL modem also. Anyway about the wireless thing, try disabling and re-enabling the wireless connection on your second computer. If that doesn't help you can reboot your DSL modem with the software the phone company gave you. Routers I don't know so much about. I've never owned a router
  21. What kind of condition is your disk in? Be sure to wipe it really clean with your tee shirt
  22. Some forums that people post lots of simple or redundant replies in don't add to your post count. That one probably doesn't add to your post count.
  23. yeah the parts look good. for the hard drive you can just add it as a slave drive. look at the IDE cable that plugs your hard drive in and there should be another place to plug a drive in at the end of the cable. hopefully you will have room in your computer for the drive, if not you can buy a new case or just let the drive rest on the case floor. you have to be careful about not having it in a bay though, because i accidently fried an old drive at school by letting the circuit board on the bottom touch the metal case.
  24. well, i clicked up 150 or so k and bought a santa hat back when runescape was ugly (uglier that is). then i put it in the bank. total click count: 2 total profit: mucho. and the beauty is my trick still works, santa hats just cost more now. click, buy a santa hat, leave for a few years and youre rich. just imagine if you could get that kind of surefire interest so easily in the real world
  25. I do not think that while having the amusement it is essential. From the standardisation a clock in the game of would be good cold but changing time of area of turns in other is good for you kids. It develops the character
