main problems are :

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

bad design: well i think you can compare your work to other ppl in pixels and see yourself what i mean. Good thing in pixel art is that you can work on slight details and fix the image pixel by pixel...For example the pickaxe is very bad IMO. You should spend more time in the shaping process (like you draw the full thing in B/W then u colorize and add final details)

 

 

 

bad anatomy :that's one of the most important things in a sig. weather you make soft rounded guys like MisterX , pretty realistic guys like link91 or cartoonist like mine, the anathomy must have a certain armony in the shapes, proportion, typical of the desired style. Much work here 2.

 

 

 

poor bg : Lacks of detail

 

 

 

bad colors/shading : nothing much to say...check more complex sigs to have an idea of what u need to improve

 

 

 

another shoulder look very similar to your previous one...: face should be on screen...IMO at least...

 

 

 

it totaly lacks a meaning : u should work on a brilliant idea or a funny meaning beyond the pixel work. That greatly helps in making a good sig.

Is there any type of book I could read to learn more about these things to improve? You have lots of good critical things to say about my sig but I think it would help more if I had more of a hands on type thing like "Paint for dummies" or something like that.

Sorry but i never used a tutorial on pixel art and i'm not even sure there's one out there...Well there should be some guidelines but i think only experience can give you better drawing tecniques. I personaly made all myself without even looking at other peeps works or tutorials, i only developed my taste/skills using a lot of time in each try. That's the real key in pixel art, the time u use on each work...About my comment i had to go eating so i couldn't write all i wanted to. Hope that can help you a bit, forget the rating, that's not something to be scared about at first tries.
