So far I think I have everything narrowed down into this Wishlist, but I know some thing is probably wrong somewhere so I'd like someone to check it over a bit and tell me alternatives and whatnot :)

Thanks

Forgot to add, but I want to know if this computer setup is Y2K compliant or will it stop working after Y2K?

I'm not really feeling the need for DDR2 :P

I don't really plan on upgrading it too much anyway as it seems it could last a good 6 years with minor upgrades :P (sort of like this computer >.<)

Y2K was six years ago. And it never happened anyway. Where have you been living for the past 6 years? It was all just hype to scare people.

Y2K means "Year 2000" anyway, so its gone now.

Yeah, funny joke. :?

Anyway, the comp.

Its a fair comp, i spose. And at a fair price. Thats all i have to say, really. Its not particularly amazing, but its not rubbish.

Go with the X2 3800 to save some money. With the DFI board I'm guessing your going to overclock?

With the extra money upgrade the graphics card to the 7900GT, 1800XT, 1900GT, 1900XT or something of your choice.

If your willing to go with something other than Corsair ram you can get some OCZ with better timmings for cheaper. here

I have one question why arn't you going for the new socket AM2? You will have a better upgrade path later on.

For graphics card, I'd go for x1800gto or x1800xt. If you can afford, buy x1800xt, but if not, then gto has almost the same price as 7600gt has. And x1800gto is actually much more powerful than 7600gt is. If ur lucky u can even unlock 4 more pipelines. Go fanATIcs!!

For HDD. Don't buy Seagate 7200.7 series hdd! If you really want Seagate, then their newest (not so new anymore lol) 7200.9 series is worth buying. Personally I would prefer Hitachi or Wester Digital hdds.

Other components are quite well. Especially I like the mobo u chose ;)

I'd much rather stick with nvidia, even if it costs me a bit more ;)

As for the hdd, *shrug* it's just an hdd, I'm not set on it yet :P I might go bigger

1) The 4200+ looked a bit better for its price range, as the next jump was a good $100. I also don't plan to overclock, that just seems to be the stupidest thing to me :P I've heard from friends that the mobo is a really good one so I added it.

2) The 7600GT exceeds all that I'm looking for

3) As long as the RAM does the job, I'm happy...

4) If this computer lasts me a good 5+ years and does as good a job as this one has done after 5 years then I'm willing to bet that I'd rather get a new computer then rather than upgrading it.
