Fencal
make a ton of yew longs or short (about 1k) and string em, i THINK 1k stung yew longs sell to alchers for 590k..or so i heard. They buy yew long because with there nats and fire staff, they only end up losing about 30 gp per alch, which anit so bad for a tonn of xp \

Rune_Thug
This is how I do it personally, but there are plenty of different ways: Buy yew logs (250 each is what I pay) Buy bowstrings (150 each is what I pay) Buy pure essence (80 each is what I pay) Craft your own nats. So, you're spending about 480gp on each bow, and when you high alch it you make 768 gp, leaving you with a 288gp profit on each bow. Now, there are some variants and possible solutions you can use. ~Buy flax for 100gp ea and make it into bowstrings yourself. ~Buy natures (300 ea) instead of crafting them If you do both of these you will make a 38gp profit. If you don't care about the cash and just want to powertrain it, that's your best bet. My way you get to raise your runecrafting at the same time though ;)
saam007
When I did yews: Cut yew logs (0gp paid) Make bowstring (0gp paid) Buy nats (300gp paid) ------------------------------- 300gp paid -> 438gp profit. Now when I do magics: Buy magic logs (1k paid) Make bowstring (0gp paid) Make nats (still have pure ess but I assume it is like 80gp ea) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1.1k Paid -> 400gp profit (little more) I found making bow string is really easy and everyone need crafting exp (at least me). The profit in fletching is only the on ingredients you make on your own. If you buy all ingredients you almost not make any profit at all (except exp). Evrae
The way I did it (before construction) was to: buy 1k yew logs - 300k buy 1k strings - 150k buy 1k nats - 300k High alch them all for 768k - 18k profit However, with construction the cost of yew logs has dropped massively - you can pick them up for 230 ea on world one, probably less. If I'm feeling poor, and need money rather than quick mage exp, then I buy the nats for 224 ea or less in the mages guild. Spinning the flax that you can get from miscellania is another nice way to increase the profit. However you do it, its a great way to get quick mage experience, and make a small profit. I have to get practically naked when I'm cooking bacon.I may be immature, but that made me laugh!
moopymitchell182
First of all, those of you who don't know the actual alching price shouldn't answer stuff like this. One person on this thread had the right value (768gp/bow). How do you make money? Simple. Costs: Yews 250-300gp Bowstrings 100-180gp Nature runes 300gp (I think, not sure how construction affected these) Total: 650 - 780gp, which has potential to gain or lose money. What you do is cut the yews, string them, and alch the finished bow. Though I do reccomend you make your own nature runes. You get runecrafting exp and you make an extra 200-300gp (depending on how much you paid for essence, or if you mined it). This is way worth it IMO. But you should be able to make better money just runecrafting nature runes. It makes a good 400k an hour, at least.

henk333
The question is more like how do you NOT make money from fletching? As many people have said you make little money if you buy all the supplies, so go get them yourself. I handpicked all the flax for 99 fletching myself (yes, I picked 70k flax  ). The best spot to do this is Lleyta, where you an get up to 2k an hour. Nowadays flax is available from Miscellenia too, although I don't know about amounts or costs. I made pretty much all that flax into bowstrings myself (I had a couple of friends spin some for me, they didn't mind the free crafting xp  ) If possible craft the natures yourself. 99 fletching got me 54k magic longbows, so buying natures to alch them is pretty expensive. Crafting them yourself is not only much cheaper, it works wonders for your total lvl. A thing to remember is that you shouldn't craft them all at once. I tried that and almost went screaming mad after 10k. My 99 fletching is now 5 months ago and I still have 10k magic longs left to alch and 5k natures to craft. So all I bought were the magic logs. These go for 1k each, in smaller amount you can try 850-900. If you see someone selling 1k+ magics for 900 each it is a magic --> willows switcher 99% of the time (I must have reported dozens of those :shame: ). When buying the magic logs at 1k each and doing everything else yourself you make 536 profit each magic long. For 54k magic longs that equals 28,944,000 gp or close to 29M. So you see, making money from fletching is easy. It's not the fastest money in game, but it's a sure way of making it. From 85 onwards for every million you invest you get 1.5M back. Haven't played RuneScape since 12 january 2007 and it feels great :)
killerdou
buy yew logs 250gp or less buy bow strings 150 each(might be hard to buy sell yew longs for ~600 each to high alchers and make yourself 200gp profit it takes about 6 hours to make 1 mil and you get some xp... after having made 17 mill you will be lvl 99 fletching and have spend 102 hours:)
