Is GIMP a good program for photomanips or sigs?

I downloaded it today, and I've been playing around with it... It's ok but not one of my favorites... It's not very good for pixel sigs but I supposed if you worked with it you might be able to make something nice with it.

That was a good contribution :?.

 

I downloaded it earlier on today but I am not to impressed by it, but then again it is free so don't expect it to match up to Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.
