I might be mistaken, but I think when you complete Monkey Madness, it automatically gives experience to all four combat stats, so that's something to avoid for your pure.

If the author could post his Mage level then it would be easier to formulate an answer.

Run around him and let the gnomes shoot him, while he is far away use some magic spells. And be carefull not to get from 60 to 61 attack because it.

I just ranged him wiht mage short and mith arrows form over the ledge, and my range was only 54 at the time

 

 

 

EDIT: I also used protect from mage, but we don't know what your prayer is...
