Password Protecting A File

Ok so I like to write poetry and such but I always get rid of it because I don't really like others reading. I'd love to keep it around but I want it hidden.

So I use Windows XP Home Edition. I was wondering if there is any way to password protect a file without downloading any software/third party clients to do so. I know how to hide a file but they're not that hard to find.

So if anyone knows I'd love the info.

Thanks much :D

Interesting concept... I actually looked at making an NT service a while a go to do this - Would have looked like a fool if I did because it seems extremely simple to do it anyway.

The only problem I can see with this method is that Windows will no longer be able to index these files for search - This can be good and bad depending on what files you are protecting.
