Cleankill99
Hi I play on f2p servers and soon im going to be able to mine rune ore. Im wondering if mining rune ores on f2p is a good way to make money? I also heard there are usually large amounts of pkers near the rune ore and i dont want to waste my time. So is mining rune ore a good way to make money and how long would it take to approximately to get about 100 ores. Thanks in advanced <(^.^)>
subzerodragon
I'm not sure but I think someone said something like this before. Anyways, I think mining rune ore is somewhat a good way of making money although it would take a while to mine 100. Maybe try mining rune for a day and see how it goes? I get PKers all the time 43+ pray is a MUST - i have 53. and it takes a hell of alot of time to get 100... my advice get p2p and mine in heros. :)
ShadowSam19
Mining rune ore is one of the best ways to make money in f2p. If you use a scout, and some simple tactics, you will NEVER die, and you can get upwards of 200k an hour easily. For gear, I generally bring full green hide, rune pic, and an inventory of food (I use salmon and trout, since i powerfished those). Use a scout to switch worlds and look for ores (preferably a lvl 3), and after I get a load of 20 ores, I bank. As for how long it takes to mine, one load (20 ores) usually takes an hour, or a bit less, depending on how well teh rocks are spawning, so plan for about 5 hours to mine 100 ore. Always try and log if you see a white dot while mining, but if they manage to att you, simply run to the ice plataeu while eating and praying. there, it is single combat so you cna fight ice warriors for protection, and if you simply run into that area, then south, you will have plenty of time to log. I have plenty of experience, so if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

oglibrary2006
Gee, most of adive are absolutely wrong. I am cb 106, 30kexp till mining lvl 88, with 260 million bank. 1. Scout is for noob miner only. Because their main is weak, they need scout. the withdraw of using scout is that your scout will always be killed with pures who is waitting for cb3 rr miner. 2. The range of ores per hours varies. you can get from 20-40 ores per hour in f2p. 30-50 in p2p wildness 47. And frankly i do not suggest going for hero base where is always crowed because only low cb miner stay there. In conclusion, if you want to pk and mine 4 life, you better train ur main hard and get a pure ranger there XD. By the way, my main is 70k till lvl 90 attack. So Cashy^O^..lol Bank Account:360m rsn: Li-014So Cashy^O^

I first started rune mining at lvl 80 cb, and using a lvl 3 scout saved me the inconvience of dieing/running countless times, while my scout was only killed a handful of times in total. If keep your scout a safe distance from the rune rocks, you can always log before any damage occurs, or, even better, you can place your scout across the lava outside of the fenced area with the muddy chest, where you can be assured to never die. As for your hourly rates, I agree completely.

My cb 106 main owns them all the time 2.lvl3 may slow down progress of mining by 20% since you have to log on 2 accounts per world 3.lvl3 get owned by lava maze often. Just let you know other noob miner use scout there also. they just own each other..lol..and i bet you love the fire blust when you log on. I believe the extra time is worth not dieing, but thats a personal desicion. 3. Like I said, my scout has only died a few times, and it is quite easy to run from a fellow scout. irregardless, it is up to the starter of this topic to make a desicion, so I suppose we should stop hijacking this thred. oglibrary2006
I think everyone have thier rights to express their options. But, only the one on the top of the moutain, not the noob, can see the whole picture. So Cashy^O^ Bank Account:360m rsn: Li-014So Cashy^O^

A level 3 with skills at blocking can easily get away from higher levels. I dont know with rune ore, as I cant mine it yet.. but I do know that when I train agility in the wilderness I always either take bind runes or an ancient ice spell to freeze enemies that come. This gives me enough time to run away into trees or to log out. Sure this takes up 3 invent spaces.. but it means you could get out alive and not lose a full load of ore.. Hope it helps
cookiestealer222
i myself have mined hundreds of rune ore in ftp wild and everything shadow says is true 1 suggestion: i use 2 scouts accross in lava maze having 2 scouts makes it easier for that 30 second delay...you will never have to wait again
oglibrary2006
Gee.. i hate noob who act all around. but when u ask thier cb and how much they worth. thier junk makes me laughing. By the way, i have cb 37 hybrid with ranger 53 and 51 mage at rr. And so does other pure. just let you know cb 3 miner die most of time. they can die with one fire bluast. On other hand, 30 lvl 110+ behind my as won not be able to kill me XD. So Cashy^O^ Bank Account:360m rsn: Li-014So Cashy^O^
ishepp
Firstly, oglibrary, it would be nice if you treated people with more respect. Also, you overuse and misuse the word noob. On topic though, rune mining is a skill which will improve with experience. Personally, mining at 82 combat in F2P wasn't that easy. I never lost any ore to pkers, mostly because of my lvl 4 scout, which died a few times. I got about 100 ores before I stopped to work on my cooking. Its a good money maker, but be prepared if you aren't 100+ combat as it isn't easy. Also, it gets frustrating as most of the time you will log in and the rocks have already been mined. There are over 10k ppl with 85+ mining now, even if only 4 are actually mining rune, it makes it difficult. 89/99 farming
reversal
I'm currently at lv 84 miner who is lv 69 combat. My stats are: 56 atk 42 prayer (will raise to lv 43) 59 str 56 range 51 def 68 mage 58 hp My question is what are rune ore pkers often as? warrior? Is it possible for me to fight off or even pk an attacker with my magic? I don't have much if any pking xp since I stop playing at Feb 2002 and started 4 months ago. Shadow mentioned wearing full green hide, why wear that? Also u can't tele past lv 20 wild right? With the bone scepter, can u use it to tele to barb ville? I'll use a lv 3 scout, any details about how to use it effectively?
ShadowSam19
My question is what are rune ore pkers often as? warrior? Most often, it is one or two meleers, 90-100+ cb. Occasionaly, it will be a ranger, and never did I see a solo mager. If theres a group or clan, it is almost always a group of melee/rangers. Is it possible for me to fight off or even pk an attacker with my magic? I don't have much if any pking xp since I stop playing at Feb 2002 and started 4 months ago. I have little pk experience aswell, but i believe it would be a waste of time and space to attempt to fight back, unless it is an easy kill. Otherwise, I suggest you always run. Shadow mentioned wearing full green hide, why wear that? I wear it because it is cheap, light, and fairly versitile. Also u can't tele past lv 20 wild right? Correct. Except for p2p, where it is lvl 30 with certain items. With the bone scepter, can u use it to tele to barb ville? Also correct, once you're past lvl 20 wild. I suppose this item may come in handy, but by the time you get to lvl 20 wild, you can easily run all the way to edgeville anyway. I'll use a lv 3 scout, any details about how to use it effectively? If you can, put it across the lava by going through the maze, since then it will be less likely to die. If you don't do that, make sure you keep it a safe distance away from the rr, otherwise you may respawn near pkers, who may be able to kill you. CookieStealer had a great suggestion about using two scouts, which I find absolutley brilliant, and plan on using in the future. It saves the trouble of having to wait for teh time limit when world hopping, and, if one dies, you can still use your other to finish up the load. Good luck with your mining!
