Internet Service, Help please

Featured Replies

Well, i currently live in a section of town where the only options are Satellite or dialup. I have been waiting over 2 years for the town to install DSL filters on the phone lines, but they never have and im sick of waiting.

I know most Satellite Providers are expensive, and im willing to pay $50 a month for a decent Service. After using dialup for so long i dont care how good it is really, as long as download rates are over 70kbps :P.

Is there any other options besides satellite?

If anyone could help me find a good service i would greatly appreciate it, and if you need any other details to help me find one feel free to ask me.

Thanks

I don't believe so. If DSL is not available in the area, then it's usually only satellite. I've never had a satellite ISP so I can't tell you how well the connection is. I do know that satellite connections can download at speeds comparable to DSL, but not upload speeds (which means you may not be able to play most online games, except for those which do not require much bandwidth). Upload speeds on satellite connections are comparable to dialup.

Might be putting words into the mouth of someone, but knives669 has satellite I believe and it really does seem horrible. When she logs on msn she'll log off and on a few times from the sheer lag =\

I guess that makes sense. Your connection will only be as fast as the strength of the signal. :)
