August 5, 200619 yr Introduction "Now let me tell you a story, of days gone by. Of broken blades, reforged, then torn again. Of warriors devestated, and legends created." The children gaped in awe at the familiar sound of the ancient storyteller, for this was a story unheard of, a sinister omen of things to come. The storyteller was wise indeed. "It all began with the three gods of this land, Zamorak, Saradomin, and Guthix. The two, Zamorak and Saradomin, vied for power. Guthix was, like always, content. Fierce battles were waged, until Guthix had a clever plan. He would use the leftover energy from the two gods, and harvest it, to create a plentiful world where he would have dominion over all that lived, and harmony would not be unheard of. The plan went well, the world was created.... Until Zamarok found out. Poor Guthix, he had just finished creating the world....So it was all ready for harvest, but still devoid of life. Zamorak wanted dominion over this realm, and created a vast army of evil creatures to patrol around the world. He created goblins, hellhounds, fiends of all sorts, every baddy to do his bidding. But all this did not go unnoticed. The Great Battles Saradomin the wise knew of Zamoraks plan, and attempted to detur him. He grew an army of heroic figures, elves, men and gnomes, to fight on his side against the forces of Evil. So it was the first war began." At this the children shivered, they had not heard many stories of the first war. "On and on it went, never was there a clear cut winner. Zamarok controlled the lands of the east, Saradomin the west. The armies clashed with fire and stone, leaving nothing but destruction on what Guthix had originally sewn for peace. Guthix could take it nolonger, in fury and rage, which is unusual for a diety such as him, he tore the land in two, and seperated the feuding gods. But it was in vein. Great ships, capable of traversing the empty matter of space were given to the armies by their gods. War ensued once again. And once again, Guthix became enraged. he came up with a new approach, he crashed together the two realms, and seperated them with a mighty river of great power. To the gods he said: "I am a great god of balance, but also a god of peace. This war must end. Whomever passes this river in an act of war will lose my favor, and I shall join the opposite in war." So, whoever passed the river first would lose the war. Interesting hm? The Grand Peace So it was that peace reigned for quite some time. "Peace" in terms, because, although non of the gods violated the unspoken treaty, they were building up their armies, quite considerably. On the west, demonic lands and scared earth were created, where goblins and evil abounded. To the west, grat stone cites sprang up, bustling with the hum of peaceful life. For the time that peace endured, the west was great and powerful. Zamarok was envious of the western cities, he wanted to see the looted and punished. he approached guthix and told him he wanted war once more. Guthix agreed, but stated that he would lose half of his land if he declared war. Zamarok agreed to this proposal. So it was that Zamorak prepared his armies for war. Grand beasts, and infernal mages were tied to his service. Evil creatures flocked to him from around the world. Saradomin was blinded by the mist of evil and could not see this happening. Zamorak flashed an evil smile. The time of war had come. Tidings of War Zamorak sent his followers across the water of the sacred river, towards the nearest city, a jewel named Varrok. Varrok had once been a great capital of the empire of Saradomin, loosely guarded because of what was once the unspoken treaty of the river. You can imagine the look of the guards on the walls when this army was seen before them. The gates were locked, the men given bow and shield, and all rallied to the great flag of Varrok, and prepared to withstand the assault. All the while, the army of Zamarok continued to march over the river. They set up their camps right outside of the the arch of the arrows. In this, a time of shadow and fear, a single sparkle remained. The ancient Varrokian librarian stepped forth, and shouted this phrase: "Listen, listen all! A great treaty was made between the gods long before we arrived, it was said that whomever passes the sacred river will lose the favor of Guthix, and great misfortune shall fall them!" But Saradomin saw this was not so. He had sat, hovering above the world, for quite some time, observing the movements of Zamoraks army. It was now his eyes ventured to the lands of the east, and they grew wide with horror. The army attacking Varrok.....it was nothing. His forces could not handle something like this. Varrok would fall, and that would be a symbol to the rest of the world. Had Zamoraks time finally come? Zamarok observed his grand army with great pride. This was it. The greatest army ever conceived. He thought aloud to himself. " Your time has come Saradomin, evil will persevere." He flicked his finger and the attack was launched. The archers on the wall tensed their bows, and waited for the order. The gates had been shut, guards stationed on ever other wall, and archers ( more like peasents given simple bows) had been moved to the easrternmost wall, in preparation for this attack. The captain of the city, and War Chief for the king was Luthim, a man with a clear mind who thought rationally. It was a cloudy day, with a few droplets of rain falling. on the heads of the peasent rabble. Most of the people had been herded into the castle, where, if the city were to fall, they would hold in and await help. Messengers had been sent to other cities, warning them of this evil. They had done all they could. The roar of the great siege engines were heard far and loud. The sounds of swords clanging was everywhere. The charge had began. The army of goblins and demons and giants were charging. They were nearing the wall now. Suddenly, a goblin fell dead. Archers popped up over the wall, and started firing at the encroaching army. Some fell dead on the floor, but most smiled. Easy meat. This rabble could not hold this charge. The wall was neared, ladders put up. The humans tried frantically to kick down the ladders, but they were plucked from their nests by the giants, who hurled them great distances, and who plummeted them to thier death. "Aim for the giants! Let no ladder stand! They will be our undoing!" The sound of the human commander was heard by all, but the fear was too great. The ..."army"... of Varrok was disintegrating. "Run! Make for the citadel!" Zamorak smiled. They had buckled quite easily. Saradomin stood over this carnage, wondering if there was anything he could have done to prevent it. No, there was nothing. This day was inevitable. But he would not sit back while his cities were felled one by one, he would not let them. He flew at top speed across his still fertile lands, beckoning all to come to him. He amased his own army, of elves and noble men, of unicorn and all things good. The wise wizards agreed to join him. Even the gnomes, who skill with the bow was little known because of their smallish size, were drafted into this growing badge of protection. Saradomin would not stand by while his world collapsed around him. Something would be done. Zamorak would fall. The Fall Of Varrok The gates were torn down, the buildings set on fire. They had thought they would encounter peasentry, but no, they had all been moved into the castle. It was fun nonetheless. But now, the castle had to be sieged. A great horn blew from the hands of one of their commanders, and they massed in the courtyard, a once thriving martketplace, now devoid of all good life. "Outa the way, you idiots! Make room for the engines!" Catapults were moved into the central square, and aimed directly for the citadel. "Ready....Launch!" The grind of the catapults was heard far, but it was not great stons they fired. It was the diesesed bodies of the fallen warriors of Varrok. Woman and children screamed, although they were held deep in the citadel, far from the enemy, they could still see the bodies....the bodies of their brothers and fathers. the siege continued on. Great rocks covered with some sort of gray grass which was lit on fire were chucked at the castle, and it started to disintegrate into a flaming hell. After some time, there was nothing left but rubble and dying flames. The roar of the giants were heard, and the goblins were ordered to charge in and attack any remaining survivors. They came back and reported to a commander. The news was grim, for followers of Saradomin. " There are none alive, my liege." Zamorak was content. Does anyone happen to know death_siren? August 5, 200619 yr Author Careful Planning But Saradomin was not. Subsequent cities fell after that. Lumbridge was easy, no walls, nothing to stop the halt of the army. As such, Saradomin was given time to plan, to strategize. Never give a god time. His army, although not nearly as large as Zamoraks, was pure. A great strngth, something to be reckoned with. But Zamoraks armies still rampaged his lands. Draynor soon fell. All these men, these men of deserted cities....they fled. They fled to Falador, hoping there they would be able to make a stand, and for once not be defenseless. Saradomins army was located far west, away from Falador. Now Saradomin had a decision to make. He could let Falador fall, let it be swept of all good, and bear a large brunt off of Saradomins back, as Zamoraks forces would be further spread, and could be potentially cut in half and routed. Then again, if Falador fell, that would leave Saradomin without any contacts in the region, and he would have to storm in unaided. Falador must not fall. Saradomin needed the city, he needed a base to plan his defences. So, he would draw Zamoraks forces unknowingly to Falador, where he would strike with his hammer of swiftness. his eyes turned the city. " So it shall be here we shall splinter the forces of Zamorak, and be given a glimmer of a chance in this struggle." He nodded his head. " So it shall be done." New Arrivals The people of Falador knew nothing of Saradomins plot, so when a large army of noble creatures showed up at their gates, they knew not what to think. " We have been sent by Saradomin to aid you in your struggles," A large elf muttered. " We are friends." The guards nodded to each other. " Welcome, friends of the protectors!" The gate screeched open, and the army stepped into the gleaming white city. Everyone was in glee, and Saradomin was smiling. Now would be his chance. Calling Aid At that very moment, Saradomin recieved a plea, from the wizards of the tower south of draynor. A great tower that was, it had stood the very tests of time, and it's foundations were of the purest stone. It was a marvel to gleam at. but perhaps, it would not be gleamed at for long. The wizards were under siege by Zamorak. never had they expected this. They were neutral, carried not the banner of either god. yet they were being attacked. Zamorak must have been scared of the wizards, scared of thier hidden powers and how they could affect the war. Something had to have been done about them. So, logically, he moved a large portion of his army and put the tower under siege. The wizards were now offering their allegiance to Saradomin, if he were to aid them in their struggles. This oppertunity could not be missed. The wizards could prove valuable in the upcoming battles. However, the battle of Falador was still upcoming, and that would require very careful care if they were to have a shimmer of hope. but then again, on the other hand...the wizards... Saradomin was in doubt. Falador could not be lost, but the wizards were a treat... Expendable, if you will. this campaign was envisioned without the wizards, it could be executed as such. The wizards could greatly aid him with their power, but at what cost? That was the question, and Saradomin needed an answer. He needed time, but he had to act swiftly. Too long, and the wizards would fall. Time of Decision Some of the wizards stood at the top of their tower, silent, unmoving. They were having a concil. They awaited the bambardment of the engines. They could not take this army, not alone. They needed help, so now they could just wait. Wait for Saradomin. Wait for help. Wait for hope. One of the wizards, Thrommback, stood up. "Enough of this!"He shouted. "No more! We have never needed the help of any god, why should we start now?" Several of the others looked up at him. Edlin, the eldest, spoke first. "And what exactly are we to do? We have no power over this outcome. " Sagni the Sage spoke next. "No power? We are the ones with the power, my friend. The only reason we have survived this long is from fear. Fear of our power. Perhaps now we should unleash it." Thrommback spoke once more: " Yes! Give them a taste of our power. Our long hidden power, I am not prepared to die without a struggle! This day must be decided with bloodshed!" Edlin spoke again. " My friends.... I have known you your whole lives, listen to me, once more. I implore you, we must wait. If we attack, we will provoke them to do so as well. And that, my friends, shall be the end of us. We must wait, bide as much time as possible. We are wizards, not warriors, for gods sakes! "Thrommback snuck a glance in his direction. He wanted to fight, wanted to make a difference. He sighed. Perhaps the elder was right. He made a respectful bow, and took his seat. Edlin looked years young. A Towering Battle Hours passed. The forces of Saradomin were nowhere in sight, whereas Zamoraks army was nothing but. The engines were all turned, facing into the tower. Their missles armed, and the crew standing close by, waiting for the single order that would wipe the wizards of the face of this great warland. Then the order was given. The troops had stood by, waiting, and now, they could be unleashed in all their bloodthirsty rage. The enignes fired. Great chunks of stone flew through the air, and at the last second, when impact with the tower was inevitable, the stones stopped, hitting an invisible barrier, and exploded into thousands of rock shards, hitting the army beneath. "What sorcery is this?" they screamed, as dozens upon dozens of pieces of rubble shattered their skulls, creating a frightning noise heard for leagues around. The wizards were not without defence. "It will not hold for long! Keep firing! Work you scum!" These calls echod for a long time, until few creatures were left beneath where the shattering rocks lay. The army retreated, but continued firing. A great ram was brought in, with the horns of a demon, spewing forth uncontrolable fire in all directions. Wielded by ten of the larger creatures, this was a formidable weapon indeed, and was intended to pound upon the gates of the tower. It would not be long before they were broken. The wizards scrambled to the lower part of the tower, preparing to withstand the assualt. Each were armed with a sword and staff, the staff used for blocking and casting spells, and the sword for detering their enemy from ambitious moves. At the front of the pack, Thrommback urged them on with all their might. " Hold them here! They will not pass us this day! Fight with might wizards, protectors of the tower!" BOOM! The wooden door colladed with the floor with a huge impact, forever leaving a dent on that place. The sound of drawn swords was heard all around, staffs were readied for battle. So it was the battle for the tower had began, with the army of Saradomin nowhere in sight. Does anyone happen to know death_siren?
