Dragon Slayer Quest help

I am just about to do the Dragon Slayer quest and was wondering if somone could please give me a bit of advice with regards to weapon of choice and the levels I should be at to face the dragon.

 

 

 

Each time I ask people which is the best weapon to use I end up getting a multitude of answers most being the same answer as the weapon they conveniently have to sell. I'm confused as originally I bought a longsword, then was told a scimitar was better, now getting told a longsword is best weapon, with somone else saying a battleaxe is the best weapon to use, so not sure which would help me defeat Elvarg.

 

 

 

I'll be wearing rune full helm, rune chainbody, rune legs and the antidragon shield, and my stats are Attack 50, Strength 50, Defence 45, HP 49, combat level 59 so not sure if I'd need to get any of those levels up first too.

 

 

 

Any help anyone that has done this particular quest could give would be really appreciated as everyone seems to have their own opinion and no one seems to say the same thing, lol.

It just depends. Depends on what you perfer, that's why your getting multiple answers of "which item is the best" the true answer that there isn't a best for everything it all depends.

 

 

 

Battleaxe: Great for power, slow, but not as slow as a two handed sword.

 

 

 

Scimitar: Great for speed, but not so great for power - overall probably the most used weapon.

 

 

 

Longsword: So-so, it's not great for power nor speed, it's an all rounded weapon. Probably least used.

 

 

 

I personally used the battle axe, but that's just what I chose at the time.

Dude, you have nothing to worry about, this will be a piece of cake for you. Just bring a full inventory of lobbies for healing, and some runes for a teleport (any teleport), incase something goes wrong. Note: you will only need the teleport if something goes wrong which is unlikely. I was nervous when I did it too, but I was level 50 when I did it!

 

 

 

If you are still worried, here is a list of what I brought to beat him:

 

 

 

-Full addy, but with Anti-Dragon shield instead of addy kite

 

-18 Lobbies

 

-7 Swordies [Didn't use em]

 

-1 earth(?), 3 air, and a law rune for lumby teleport [didn't use]

 

-My weapon was, of all things, a rune pick ax!

 

 

 

I beat him with a pick axe, so whatever weapon you chose, it can't be worse than I had, and I had worse levels than you too.

 

 

 

If you want THE best weapon for killing Elvarg, would probably suggest a rune scimitar, cause they're fast of course. Any way you to it, my bets are on you, not Elvarg.

Thanks for the vote of convidence man, I am just about to start it (actually board ship and set sail for Crandor), just looking at the map of crandor though not sure which way your supposed to go to get to Elvarg's lair.

I DID IT!! less than 10 minutes to get from crashed boat back to varrock!!!!
