August 17, 200619 yr Right, im thinking about purchasing a new widescreen monitor for my laptop (acer 19"). Im wondering if I were to get two is it possible in anyway for me to use both with my laptop? Thanks in advance. And no lol why do you always want to get stuff from John Lewis. Its over ̣̉300 more then than what i paid. John Lewis is a great, great shop.
August 17, 200619 yr First - does your laptop support output for two monitors. As far as I know, almost no laptops do. They have an output for a monitor, sure, but this will only show what is on the laptop screen - it is used for connecting to a projector or other device for presentations normally. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
August 17, 200619 yr Author It has one VGA output o.0 was I assume means I cant support two monitors :( I can spilt my laptop screen with the other monitor right? August 17, 200619 yr As far as I know, no, you can't. You will have to check with the manufacturer though, or in the manual. At least in all the laptops I have had experience with the video output is a mirror of the LCD screen for the purposes of presentations or just if you find a large screen more comfortable. If you want another monitor for it though you could go the other route that I mentioned, attaching a second machine to the second monitor and running that program whose name I still don't know on it. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

August 17, 200619 yr Yes, you can split your desktop between both monitors. If you have more than one VGA port Windows will be able to extend the desktop to both outputs, or clone them so both show the same screen. The settings are built into Windows itself if I remember right. My dad and I use a seperate 19" LCD when we go buisness trips to run a picture slideshow off the laptop. Works great. :D You should be able to just plug in the monitor, reboot (might not even need that), and you should have the options to extend your desktop to the left or right in the display settings (where resolution, colors, and so on are found).
