August 30, 200619 yr Hi all, I was thinking of purchasing a game that has StarForce protection on it, and have heard a few nasty things about it. After reading this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarForce I could go either way. So I'm wondering if you've used anything that had StarForce protection and if you had any problems with it, especially after you have uninstalled it.
August 30, 200619 yr I've had a couple of games (X3: Reunion, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory) where the game has just refused to start even when the disc is in my drive and so I had to return them. I would advise you to avoid it because the enjoyment gained by playing the game will not be greater than the frustration of trying to get it to work then finding a removal tool for the potentially damaging proprietary drivers afterwards. I suggest you boycott any starforce products. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
August 30, 200619 yr best thing to do is to get alcohol 120% (or similar) and use the anti-protection settings on that and mount a copy of the disk on the virtual drive (this is not illegal at all, you are just making a back-up copy of your game for your own use) 40 Barrows trips, 4 Barrows equipment (Guthans Helm, Veracs Helm, Ahrims Skirt, Dharoks Helm)
August 31, 200619 yr I've planned to buy SC: CT, play it for a few days, then use all them fancy tools to get it off as fast as possible. AS of right now, it isn't supported at all on Vista (the games just simply won't work), but most people can atleast play the games right now. If your up for risks, and you find a solid way to get it off, go for it.
