I received this email from a @hotmail.co.uk address, and I presume its falsely trying to get my account details, should I be reporting this email address to jagex, and do u think there is any action they can take?

Subject: Your Runescape Account - Messiah2k02

Runescape

Dear Messiah2k02,

Due to a recent surge in new Runescape accounts, we are carrying out

checks on all accounts over one month old to clarify which are still

active. Accounts we discover still to be active will be untouched,

however accounts which we find are inactive due to lack of response to

this email will be locked and potentially terminated.

Therefore, we ask that you prove you are still using your Runescape

account, Messiah2k02, by replying to us, and providing us with the

following information, so that it matches what we have on our records:

1) Your Runescape Name

2) Approximate date that you created the account

3) Your Runescape password for this account

4) Your current Bank PIN number for this account

5) And if possible, as many previous passwords as you can remember.

The Jagex Staff already know all of these details, we simply need you to

confirm them.

Please either reply to this email with the reply button, or send a new

email with the required information to [email protected]

We thank you for your co-operation, and would like to remind you that if

we hear no response your account may be locked and terminated.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Gower and the Runescape Staff.

Kind of logical that it arent them:

- They say themselves: 'Jagex staff will NEVER email you'

- It would have been a @jagex account or something

- He wrote your name, so they would have to sent it to all runescape users seperately which means they would have to send a few million e-mails.

regardless its still obviously false. jagex wouldn't be using hotmail, furthermore their reasoning is stupid - if they want to check "active" accounts they have it saved on their ingame database the last time and IP you logged in from.

i'm just concerned incase any others get an email like this or who have been foolish to reply. I guess if I report it jagex may be able to get hotmail to close this email down an stop further ppl from being bothered.

I remember my friend got one of those before. I told him to make an account, finish tutorial island and send them the name and pass for it

2 days later the account was stolen. We were laughing so hard....

So there you go, its a scam....(I knew it when my friend told me about it anyway...)

You can use this link for reporting the email scams :)

Whatever you do, for your own safety, do NOT click any links that include in the mail.

Remember that Jagex will NEVER send you any mails.

Yes i have to admit its one of the better Email scams ive seen but if you were silly enough to think its real the fact they ask for your bank pin and previous passwords makes it a obvious scam. Plus many many many more things... Atleast these guys can spell
