Would this be a good idea?

I have come up with several ways that may (or may not ) be a good idea with the matter of holiday items. First off, JaGeX hates "RARE"s. They've made this quite clear. One way they can get rid of 'rares' is by making them untradable. This would make those of us who just want holiday items to look cool very devestated, though and also make those who want to merchant them mad but would make JaGeX and those who just wanted them to look cool happy. Another way is to get rid of all the 'rares' in the game by deleting the items. In my opinion, this would be a very Very VERY bad idea. This would make those who want them devastated, those who want money devestated and those who just bought them EXTREMELY devestated. The last idea I have come up with, and perhaps the best idea so far, is to drop similar (but not exact) holiday items this upcoming and following year. These would not be tradable, however, but would probably make everyone (for the most part) happy. People who just like these holiday items for their looks will enjoy this update, the price of the real holdiay items will go down, and JaGeX will enjoy it. Unfortunately, Merchenters won't like it and neither will people who just bought one of the real holiday items for their looks. Any thoughts?

unfortunately i disagree entirely. Most people who want rares mainly phats, want them for cash and merchanting and a sign of wealth...not for looks...santas and masks are different however. Not sure u get the way things work in this situation however. Money is brought into the economy by alchers mainly, the alchers sell other rares and such and buy phats...the greater demand for a phats the higher the price raises..since there's a finite amount, they will increase indefinitly to trillios and quadrillions hypothetically. Obviously as u said, if u take away the rares or make them untradable, those who recently sold are in quite a bind....obviously ruling on this option. Yours, unfortunately, would do squat except making people angry and only increase badness of the situation. By introducing these new rares, it'd just put them in another giant rare inflation...by a couple years, the same effect of the phats would occur...just as there are multiple rares now, you're just adding another one to it...there are multiple rares so just adding another one wouldn't effect the entire economy, it'd just be increasing the difficulty of their dilema. In a couple years, they'd have the new rares at a couple hundred k possibly around the millions, then just keep rising along with the phats...once again, its just another option, so it wouldn't deter the phat prices...even if it did, you've created another problem with the new rares. Another point of the tradable rares...Jagex has stated they will not do this because it made people angry...Some people hogged all of them and weren't able to get any...unless u just make it like the jester hats and such, not everyone would get one, and if someone took a temporary break from the game, came back and everyone got these new expensive items...he/she would be quite steamed....just makes people angry. People who buy rares REALLY are not in for the looks i'd say...and i don't know how u came to the conclusion that all rares would drop in price due to a new one instantly. It took 5 YEARS for phats to reach their current point...its not gonna do really anything except create more problems.

 

 

 

 

 

EDIT: I noticed u said they will drop similar untradable items...i'm sorry for the mistake. But i still diagree, it will make so many people who worked hard for the tradable ones just to see a lvl 18 with a phat...its just not fair. It would still not deter the economy, i mean these would still be in constant demand...Jagex wouldn't create 5 new phats or watever of the same colors. I really don't think this would help. The ONLY thing that's done any significant damage to this and the best idea and actually implement ever is Construction. taking away tons of cash from the economy with no return. Why do u think marble, goldleafs and magic stones r so mcuh?

I meant they would be similar, not the exact things. They wouldnt' look exactly the same, but relativily close. They would NOT be tradable, I don't know where you got the idea that I was hinting at that. And, if people missed the chance to get them, it'd be their own fault just like with every other holiday from bunny ears on. If they were "steamed" it be their own problem. I think it may be a good idea, better than the easter ring and zombie head. It WOULD reduce the price of Holloween masks, Partyhats, and Santas because there are tons of people out there just looking for the "look" of rares. It may not change too much because of merchenters, but I think it would be significant. Probably wouldn't be a good idea, though because it would screw the entire economy up. Some people would be surprised at how much of an impact rare items/holiday items actually give. Maybe a good idea, maybe not a good idea. I'd like to see a good holiday drop from JaGeX , though.

Anyway, my opinion is that the tradeable rares should be made untradeable, however, provde a few month's warning before actually doing it.

 

 

 

Yeah, prices will skyrocket, but that would put an end to the problem once and for all. I agree that the merchanters would hate it. I agree that I'll probably get flamed for this opinion, but I'm used to that.. (lol)

 

 

 

Personally, I do not own any of these rares, nor do I have any desire to own any of them. I do not need rares to prove to anyone my wealth (that's a rather noobish thing to do), nor do I need a rare to show how long I've been playing (I started playing 4 months after the last of these drops occurred).

 

 

 

To me, there are much better things to spend my money on, and if I had that kind of wealth, I certainly wouldn't use it for something like a rare that has no intrinsic game value.

In your first post you said Jagex hates rares, which is entirely not the case. Rares are an important balance to the economy and the reason they wont make more tradable discontinued items is because it would upset the balance and they would get alot of complaints.

 

 

 

The reason they stopped drops entirely including untradable ones like Bunny Ears is because people complained they missed the events. Which is why we now have a 2 week period to get the new items and emotes.

 

 

 

Therefore things should stay as they are and your suggestions are utterly pointless.
