Stuart_G
So you downloaded BF2... Or do you mean installed BF2? If you downloaded it from the internet, how big was the file size and where did you get it from? If you installed it from a legal, store bought disk, uninstall it then reinstall it. If that doesnt work, it could possibly be a hardware problem and your current set up doesnt have what it take to run it. If thats the case, ill bet that its your video card and it just cant run it. ____
Sounds like your video card doesn't meat the requirements. Specs of video card? And if you downloaded the entire game (not just the 1.4 patch) then no more help for you.

Uldric
Go start, run, then type in dxdiag. Then go to the display bar and it should give you the name, chip type and a few other things. If your card isn't powerful enough, then there isn't much else to do except upgrade.
____
Just so you're aware, battlefield 2 requires a 128mb video card (with direct x 9.0c) from the following range: NVidia GeForce FX 5700 (or above) ATI Raedon 8500 (or above)

d3nic
The "bounce back to desktop" is a common bug with BF2. IIRC it's something to do with your monitors current screen resolution size. Don't even attempt to play BF2 unless you have a good CPU, and a decent card. BF2 is a very power hungry game. - Denic.

Tigra00
If you don't know what video card you have, then you probably have a stocker video card that sucks. Go to your computer store and see if you have an AGP slot or a PCI Express slot. Newer computers have PCI Express, older ones have AGP. I believe on of the best cards you can get for AGP slots are Radeon 9500's, which is what I have. They're probably under $50...PCI Express slots can run all the newest, uber cards. So yea, be prepared to make a lil investment. :P The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! d3nic
9500 Best AGP card? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA. ROFL. I think the Nvidia 7600 is the best AGP card right now. Also, the 9800Pro is a decent AGP card.
Tigra00
9500 Best AGP card? I'm a spammer.. ROFL. I think the Nvidia 7600 is the best AGP card right now. Also, the 9800Pro is a decent AGP card. I said one of the best. I believe the best is the 9800X Pro or whatever they're called, but last time I looked, they were like $200. I gave a cheap, viable alternative. Not everyone wants to pay insane amounts of money just to get something to work. I can play BF2 on my computer just fine.
