I wouldn't recommend prayer yet, not until you can charge and have a sara staff (then it may be good to get 52 prayer). Also you should get ranged up some for hp's sake. You gain 1 combat level for every 8 prayer levels that you raise so, raising your prayer to 43 would raise your combat 5 or 6 levels. So, if you don't mind the additional 5-6 levels and have the time and/or money, and you want the protect ability, then raise it.
