logic-is-overrated
^^^No, somebody's right and somebody's wrong.^^^ The thing is, nobody knows for a fact who's right and who's wrong so if everybody just started their arguments with "in my opinion" or something like that we wouldn't all be crying about it. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack. Guest XplsvBam
by saying that everyone is right you affirm what they believe, but since christianity contradics muslim not everyone can be right. by saying that everyone is wrong is impossible to because some believe that there is a god and some believe there isn't a god. as you can see if someone believes that there isn't a god and they are wrong then the other belief has to be right. once you eliminate the impossble all that remains is the truth, no matter how improbable it may be. Someone is right, its a fact of life.

Kryptic
I'm glad you see your paradox. But you aren't just promoting happiness, you're promoting how you think we should achieve happiness - which is what a door to door religion salesman is doing. I think Christianity is the way to achieve happiness, what's wrong with me trying to promote that? I think true Christianity will bring joy and happiness, shouldn't it be my civil duty to promote that? I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, I've had them too. But just get over it. I dont think I am. Religion and happieness are two different things. Yes, happieness can stem from religion, but doesn't mean they are one in the same. I was promoting nothing but good nature, no religion involved. I would be happy to have someone came to my door and promoted happieness, but not religion. I think your entitled to what you believe, but knocking on someones door to press your thoughts on them is crossing the line. In Khazakstan we say God, Man, Horse, Dog, then Woman, Rat and small cockroach..M.A.D 4 Lyfe

You aren't just promoting happiness, you're promoting how to achieve happiness. No one knows what true happiness is and no one knows how to get it. Christians think that happiness is finding Christ, Buddhists believe happiness is found in true enlightenment (correct me if I'm wrong buddhists). You think you know how to achieve happiness, but I disagree with you. Therefore, you are telling me how to go about achieving happiness, and therefore, telling me what to think. Scenario: You come to my door and say I should try and be happy. Me: Well how do I go about being happy? You: Well, you (insert what you said in your first post that I responded to) Me: But I don't think that is what happiness is. You: But that is how you get happiness. That is what happiness is. See? You are telling me how to achieve happiness and therefore asking me to convert to your system of thought.

I would be happy to have someone came to my door and promoted happieness, but not religion. Haha, that's classic. :) I'm really considering of doing that one day with a better financial situation. Just knock on somebody's door (preferably somebody unknown to you but you still know he/she lives in poverty), say "I just wanted you to know I hope you to have a nice day", slip a hundred dollar bill in his/her hand, give a pat on the back and leave. Just out of spite. Oh, the look on that person's face for the next 5 hours...

If you read, I was responding to Kryptic's point that it's a civil duty to try and promote happiness... my paragraph that you quoted me was a clear thought experiment used to show that Kryptic's promotion of happiness as a civil duty is no different than me promoting what I think happiness is. Obviously I don't think it's my civil duty to make people Christians, it was a thought experiment used to show the flaw in Kryptic's argument... And by the way, if I can't go out telling people what to do because it's what I think, then why can you tell me what not to do? Isn't that just based on what you think I should and should not do? You dont actually believe in this? Or are you just argueing because you haven't argued in awhile? Because that is what I am thinking you are doing. You over thinking what I said dude. Just take it as simple as it's stated. Im not defining anything for you, do what ever you want that makes you happy! For god sake, scream "Christ" in your friends face if that makes you happy, that has nothing to do with me. No I am not. Religion is a set of rules and regulations that one follows to achieve paradaise, or a happy lifestyle (your view). I said live YOUR life, not mine, YOURS. Its all about you. Im not giving you a huge book that was "sent" by God and telling you this will make you happy. Im saying live your life, be productive in your life. When you achieve those things that make you a better person (being productive and living your life) then yes - most likely you are going to be happy. AM I WRONG? Again, your overthinking what I said. I'll tell you why I'm arguing, since you want to know. I'm arguing because you claim you don't want people trying to convert you to your way of thinking - and yet, you are trying to do that to me. What if I think happiness comes from me accepting Christ and converting people to Christianity. You are telling me I should leave people alone. I am saying I should not. Therefore, you are trying to convert me to YOUR way of thinking. If I disagree with what you're saying, and you're telling me how I should live my life, then you're trying to convert me to your way of thinking REGARDLESS of how individual you might think your thinking is.
