Get Lost!

Episode 3: "Further Instructions" shocked me by being centered around Locke and still managing to be good.

-Did Locke shoot Eddie or didn't he? The flashback ended just before anything happened.

-So Locke was a drug grower/smuggler/dealer, eh? Perhaps he stopped Charlie from using heroin as a way to make up for what he did in the past.

-Eddy's Geronimo Jackson shirt was great. (Remember their record on the shelf in The Swan?) This confirms that Locke's flashbacks took place sometime in the early 1980's; that's when The Swan's orientation film is copyrighted.

-Desmond is able to see the future?

-Polar bears are back, excellent.

Next week: Sawyer gets tortured. (Again!)

I also really enjoyed this episode, mostly for the first part with Boone. There used to be a lot of crazy scenes, but not too much anymore. Like in the first season "Teresa falls up the stairs. Teresa falls down the stairs." That was freaky, and awesome. Come to think of it, that was a Locke moment also with Boone in it. Also in the first season, Claires baby crib full of blood, that was freaky as hell, and also completly awesome. Locke's crazy dream in this one wasn't as freaky as either of those two scenes, but really cool none the less.

It looked like Locke put the gun down. The whole time I was watching that I was sure Locke was going to shoot him. Even after I saw Locke put the gun down I had this weird feeling that they would show another flashback later on with Locke standing over the cops dead body, with either Locke having shot him or one of the other people once they saw Locke wouldn't do it. But they did cut off, so we really don't know for sure.

Locke said he had to fix his own mistakes, and Charlie commented that it sounded like Locke had to fix a lot of them. I think Locke just wanted to help Charlie fix his mistake of being addicted to heroin, not because he used to grow pot, but because he didn't want Charlie to be like him, constantly making mistakes and having to fix them. Locke also didn't look to guilty about growing the pot, he (like myself) I don't think sees anything wrong with pot.

It did seem like Locke was younger then. Was this before or after his dad stealing his kidney?

That part with Desmond was weird, and Hurley looked freaked out.

Yep, it was cool to see the polar bears again. Makes you wonder why "the others" let the bears lose instead of keeping them in their cages.

I don't watch the next week's previews because I don't like seeing spoilers, but I guess not to many people are crazy as I am and don't consider them spoilers. My fault for reading past "Next Week:"

I think, well it looked like, Locke put his gun down.

But then Eko said he was a hunter in Locke's weird vision thing. How thinks Eko is dead?

Yep, I'm pretty sure Locke put his gun down. Still doesn't stop that weird feeling I have though. And the Eko vision did say Locke was a hunter... but I think we'll have to wait till the next Locke backstory to find out for sure. I don't think Eko is going to die (anytime soon). He wasn't already dead, Locke would have known.

I'm glad the weekly "Lost" discussion is working out this year. My topic for season 2 only lasted one week, I guess I could have bumped it but oh well. It's fun discussing the show with people who actually pay attention. My brother in law was talking about it today, and half the things he asked were answered in that episode. Playing Candy Land with his son (my nephew) I guess is more important to him than "Lost" :P .

He did seem younger...but when they asked about his dad it was like he didn't want to talk about it because it was either too hurtful or he was lookig past the pain. Before his dad stole his kidney it seemed as though he was more okay with mentioning that he didn't know his dad - less pain involved so less to hide.Who knows though... I did think he looked younger as well.

So in Locke's flashback was he in like, a hippie commune type thing or was he in a cult of some sort?

Oh, and by the way indy - next week is going to be intense. Intensely awesome that is. I'm so mad I have to wait for it - it's almost as bad as waiting all summer for season 3 was.

The Wikipedia article on John Locke has last nights flashbacks coming after almost all the other flashbacks, so it is after the kidney ordeal. I know Wikipedia isn't perfect, but I think you and the article are right. We still don't know how he lost use of his legs, that takes place sometime between last nights flashback with the pot commune and the first flashback we saw of his, when we figure out he is crippled.

I can't wait for next week's episode either :D .

Actually I can, since I have to, so I should say:

I can wait for next week's episode, but I would sacrifice a puppy to see it right now.

There was a ripped-up Dharma shirt in the bear's cave. My theory is that the bears escaped, killing the Dharma scientists. Then the Others took over The Hydra.

The Others are the Dharma scientists, or at least the kids of the scientists. I've assumed for a while that they are the scientists, and when Henry/Ben said has been there his whole life, I thought maybe they could be the kids.

Those are just my theories, of course :P .

I don't think the bears could escape though, like the shark I think it was set free. I wish we would see a Dharma symbol on a bear, to know for sure that they are Dharma's.

The Dharma shirt in the cave and all those bones were probably some of the scientists who stayed on the island after they failed their mission.

Keep in mind that the Dharma logo was put on the shark as a joke by the special effects team.

Really? Learn something new everyday...

Well, I guess that is good, because it means the bears not having any symbols doesn't disprove anything.

Last nights episdoe...wow. Here are some of my thoughts:

- Henry/Ben said that what's-his-name will have to "wait" to kill Sawyer? No!

- With Jack they had to break him from being as stubborn as he is in order to work with him. Last nights episode was just their way of breaking Sawyer so they can work with him?

- Second island explains why Henry/Ben came up to the dock from a boat at the end of the second season.

- Preview for next episode - the guy with the eyepatch in the camera. Brad connected that with season two's episode "The Other 48 days" where Eko finds the box that has the film reel in it AND a glass eye. Mystery eyepatch dude's eye?

- Island grows restless? Return of Lostzilla?

Suprised that Nano guy didn't bump it sooner, I thought this was the best episode of the season so far.

They just confuse me more and more on what they have Kate and Sawyer for. The only thing I can think of is they want them to, well, do it. It's probably for ratings, the Others are directors and the Island is a reality TV show (Suprisingly that was a pretty big theory for a while, till the writers debunked it). We do know why they have Jack now, to fix someones spine. Maybe it will turn out to be the guy that want's to kill Sawyer that has the tumor, and that situation will kind of just go away.

They said the only way to earn a con-mans respect is to con him, maybe they want him to join them. The Others took a lot of people in the second season from the tail section of the plane. They took two kids, who in a later episode were shown walking with The Others, with no shoes, and the same clothes. Kids would be easy to get on your side. Sawyer may be harder, so this was the only way they could think of doing it.

Yep, it would also explain why they didn't want the survivors to have that boat either. What doesn't make sense is how Desmond completly missed seeing the smaller island.

On other notes, Desmond seems to be able to see the future. Or at least parts of it. Kate is still really hot, and they keep on giving her dresses to wear, which is awesome. We saw one of the new "main" characters a little more this time, playing golf. And the bunny had a number "8" painted on it, which we know is one of the factors that lead to the death of the human race. Just a few random things I noticed.
