Swimmercga25
ok... so i my laptop crashed the other day, and whenever i try to start up, it comes up with a NTDETECT failure, so i ran diagnostics, and when it got to hardrive, it kept failing. i have a warrenty so i just wanted to get my files back. under IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore, i plugged in a 16gig removable disk and started to recover my documents, music, movies, etc... on most of my video files and a ton of my pictures come up with: Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check), and they don't copy. If anybody can help me figure this out and get my files back please help. Again, i can only access the computer through the IBM Rescue and Recovery mode. Please Help :!:
Anesthesia
If there's a CRC error then it means the files are corrupted. In which case you can't get them back. As far as I know. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

In short. Hardrive crash = you buggered. Notoriously Trollish.
Anesthesia
Well no, I don't see it like that. I think it depends how you define hard drive crash. Hard drive refuses to read = difficult to get the data back, but in 90% of cases it is possible (though may require paying someone). Hard drive working/reading but the data is corrupt = no chance of getting it back unless you have some sort of parity system, which you evidently don't. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
