Adam007
General Help and Advice: On the top, or at least one below the archive of wisdom. If it's on the top, it'd be more like a net for the masses of people posting here solely for questions. It's great that only mods can post in the archive of wisdom, so in that case maybe just move it one below that. General F2p: Above General P2p like it used to be. Not only because we're used to it that way, but logically it would work better as a net that way. People tend to click on the first runescape discussion forum, and whichever that is receives the most spammy threads, and I don't want to see that happen to gen p2p, which mostly has intelligent discussion (at least in comparison to general f2p). RuneScape Bugs & Suggestions: I don't know why the 'discussion' part was removed, maybe because genp2p and f2p have discussions, but havign bugs moved to that board just seems out of place to me. When a new update comes out, all related posts are in general p2p, and bugs happen to be a lot of them. People wouldn't be going to the suggestions board for that really, and people wouldn't really post bugs on that board either. It just doesn't seem to fit. Music and Movies board: Just below or above off-topic. It just doesn't seem to fit wedged between a literature and art board. These are just my suggestions, don't take them as critisicm in any way, only as suggestions. :)
Ard_Choille
I'm just going to explain the logic behind the changes. Of course, if need arises, we can make adjustments based on how the newly-arranged forums are used. It will be best to give the changes a few weeks of use to identify any adjustments that make the most sense. General Help and Advice: On the top, or at least one below the archive of wisdom. If it's on the top, it'd be more like a net for the masses of people posting here solely for questions. It's great that only mods can post in the archive of wisdom, so in that case maybe just move it one below that. The informational Help forums have been placed above the "post your questions here" forum in order to allow the information to have more visibility. The goal is for users to search the informational forums before they post. General P2P has always been used more, which is why it has been promoted. "Discussions" has been added to the category heading therefore discussions on each of the forums within the category is implied. Identifying glitches and bugs is better suited for the RuneScape forum as well since the forum's purpose is to make suggestions for correction. Music and Movies board: Just below or above off-topic. It just doesn't seem to fit wedged between a literature and art board. Art -> Entertainment -> Creative writing...doesn't seem to be a missmatch. We'll see how it goes though. These are just my suggestions, don't take them as critisicm in any way, only as suggestions. :) Thanks for the suggestions. We'll keep this all in mind as we take note of how everyone makes use of the new forum arrangement. Constructive criticism is always welcome. - Ard - - My deviantART Page - -
Adam007
General P2P has always been used more, which is why it has been promoted. True, but why is it that logic only applies to that specific forum? I still think the reasons I gave are applicable. Identifying glitches and bugs is better suited for the RuneScape forum as well since the forum's purpose is to make suggestions for correction. I was just saying take the bug section out of the suggestions board. Most bugs are dealt with, and when they do exist, they're pretty new and come with a new update posted about mostly in general p2p. There aren't many existing bugs to talk about solutions that haven't been removed. Art -> Entertainment -> Creative writing...doesn't seem to be a missmatch. We'll see how it goes though. The art and creative board are where people put their work on display most of the time for criticism and to show off what they do. The movies and music board is more of an off-topic board with the same posters from off-topic but on music and movies. Just from posting on those boards you get a feel for who posts on them - in that way it just seems weird to me that board wedged inbetween the two forums where people show off their work. The other I didnt quote you on I agree with now. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my suggestions.
Ard_Choille
I see your points. These ideas bounced around for a while. It is true that different logic has been used for each change along with looking at user behavior as a whole. There are always other options. Test and adjust...'tis the nature of all things online. I'll keep this thread in mind after the changes are up and running for a few weeks. Who knows, some minor tweaks might happen sooner. Thanks for posting! - - My deviantART Page - -
Vape
I too think Gen F2P should be about P2P, fwiw. Where the bloody hell are you?
Adam007
What I thought would happen to general p2p is happening. Those broad general topics are popping up on it now. Out of the first four topics on the page, none of them really fit with general p2p. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=558979 - Goes to link about mmorpg's in general. General or off topic. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=559094 - A complaint about a ban that belongs in general. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=558924 - A personal story of an event that belongs in general f2p or blogscape. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=559206 - Ended up getting locked for the sheer stupidity of the thread - didn't belong in that board either. My point is that general p2p is getting increasingly more generic. General p2p has always been the board for discussions about the p2p element of the game and updates. Now it's getting threads that general f2p is known for.
Ard_Choille
Trust me when I say that if you had made that list two weeks ago, you would have gotten the same results, if not a larger list. The number of locked posts in Gen P2P appears to have actually decreased since the update. I'm keeping an eye out though...and your suggestions in mind. - Ard - - My deviantART Page - -
