New Events Forum Suggestion

Featured Replies

I must say, nice job with the events forum and rearranging, we really needed that! =D> Anyway, I have a suggestion:

For the events forum, maybe run a poll about the best times for people to come to events so people can use that to help plan their parties.

Like, have all Eastern times and list:

  • 12-5AM

    5-10AM

    10-12AM

    12-3PM

    3-7PM

    7-12AM

Just a suggestion I thought of. =)

Good idea. This is something I have been thinking about. We're still seeing how the board is working over all so we can figure out where any sticking points and problems might be. Once we give it a bit more time I'm sure a few adjustments will probably need to be made to make the board run as smoothly as possible.

Wouldn't GMT times be best for everyone to work out their local time?

I added a sticky on the board that has links to 3 different time zone conversion sites. Hopefully if anyone has trouble using one they might have better luck with the others. I don't think GMT times would end up actually being used by everyone. There's also the matter of daylight savings/summer time in various parts of the world that shifts the number of hours a location is off GMT. In any case the time zone convertors should be enough.

DST shouldn't matter to the time you post, everyone knows what time zone they are in and can easily work it out + or - from the GMT time. I just thought GMT would be a lot easier for everyone, since not everyone lives in the United States.

I see your point about not everyone living in the US. Unfortunately there are people that can't grasp the 5 day rule when it's essentially the only important rule that's specific to that board. If they can't follow a rule that's stated in the announcement, in the board description and in the board guidelines I shudder to think how well a rule about posting the times in GMT would be. I agree it would be nice but I honestly can't see it happening with the lack of reading some users display.
