October 31, 200619 yr I'm currently a first kyu (one step from black) in Wadu Ryu Karate after six years of training, doing two and a half hours at the club a week and a bit of training everynight. My sensei teaches 'street' karate as opposed to sport do all the applications we learn are how to put someone down and keep them there. I'll be going for my Blackbelt some time in May next year. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
October 31, 200619 yr I only did a little bit a TaeKwon-Do and made it to yellow belt (give or take a stripe or two). This was all when I was 6. My friend got his black belt when he was 8 years old. I know 2 other kids who got them at the ages of 14 and 12. It seems to me like although it really does depend on which dojo (?) you go, if you spend enough time and money at the place you're going to get that belt wether you deserve it or not. It seems to me like their needs to be some sort of set national standard.
