Okay I am really getting pissed. RS keeps shutting down completely, nothing else closes, IRC stays open, anyweb site is open, DSL is fine. I get a error thrown on the Desk Top when this happens.

This is what has occured since I started getting the errors, all was fine up until I couldnt use Java Chat on a web site I usually used it on, so I thought it was me, later found out it was chat. This is what I did >>>

I downloaded Sun Java thinking that was problem, that was when this started, 2 wks ago. I took Sun Java back off, still have problem, restored PC to earlier date still have problem.

PC is clean, no virus or such.

Now I have installed IE 7 and Sun Java again, still this problem persist.

Windows XP Home IE 7

Sun Java Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_09-b03)

448 Ram 2.2 GHz

RS applet to play RS from official site.

Cache and Disk are clean and free of junk. This happens when nothing is running and when I only have MIRC open. Help

This is the error, well half of it.

so it doesn't happen if mIRC is closed? What are you using to play RS, internet explorer, firefox, or their client? I saw you said you have IE7, did it do this on IE6?

Also, you said you have their client - I know the first client they released had a bug that would ocasionally randomly close the windows, but I doubt thats what your refereing to as there was no error message, and it happened 1 in 1000 times.

Anyway, try redownloading the client just to see if you still get the error, if you do - try playing it on another browser besides IE if you have it, it's not a fix, but it at least narrows down what the problem is - browser or java.

This happens when I have IRC open and when it is closed, it happens when Zonealarm is on or off. I have not installed anything new on this PC since this problem started except Sun Java, and I have taken it off and put it back on too many times now.

I just installed Microsoft VM and still the same problem, although this time I stayed in game for 1 hour verses the 5 min earlier.

Yes this happened on IE6 and IE7 . I have also reinstalled the RS applet again, did not help. I use the RS client to play.

I will try Firefox and let you know.

Downloaded and tried playing on Firefox, lasted in game 2 minutes.

BTW my MIRC is still up and running, I am still able to use it while all this happens. Yes I have tried playing without IRC running and it has the same results.

Any other ideas???

im not sure what you probmlem is. however I think it would be wise to scan your computer for viruses with a good antivirus program and scan it with spybot search and destroy as well. also please get the latest microsoft updates. if the problem persists maby you should inform jagex.

This is odd...IRC and RuneScape runs of the same java engine.

Most people use an entirely separate IRC client that doesn't use Java. mIRC is a stand alone exe. The java clients are just used for people that are new to IRC and don't understand much of it. :P

I had THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM! i dont know how to fix it! A re-format WILL NOT WORK! I know it's beacuse the Java Virtual Machine crashes... I have a new computer now and i dont have that problem. Goodluck.
