smilinmike
I am up to 79 crafting now, so I am off to hunt these black dragons for their hides...a few questions first.. 1) It appears they are sometimes aggressive and sometimes not? Is it just a matter of hanging out there long enough before they turn passive? I am ranging them wearing tons of expensive items (ie archer ring, robin set, crystal bow, etc.) and don't want to get killed when going out to grab their drops. Do I really always need to switch to a dragon shield when running out to grab the drops? 2) What kind of damage can these things do with breath/melee? (What damage does the breath do with and without a dragon shield on?) 3) How often do they drop the really good stuff(dragon halves etc.) It says in the bestiary that blue dragons drop d spears and whatever, but after two years of killing them I never saw a thing above a lvl 3 clue. I am hoping black dragons are more profitable than this. any advice is appreciated..I take my training pretty seriously. 99 ranged90 hp86 crafting85 mage ...Eating players for breakfast since 2002. ishepp
Aggressiveness is same as any monster, just hang around long enough they stop attacking. I would advise putting shield on to get drops, they hit as high as anything with dragon breath, never tested of course. Melee I think hits quite high (about 20 probably) but again not testing that. With shield breath will only hit 5 maximum. If you aren't using shield, you might want to leave robin, archer and rangers at home, its a lot to lose for a misclick or lag. The range bonus they give is much less important than the bonus from hides and bow anyway. No idea about getting rare drops, its probably more profitable killing blues if you alch products, just because you kill them faster. If you don't have 80 agility, try the evil chickens lair in zanaris, its much nearer a bank and has a safe spot in the east. 89/99 farming

icecube
I don't suggest ever running out without a Dragonfire shield. I was ranging at the Evil Chicken's lair in Zanaris, and my crystal bow turned into a seed while attacking a black dragon. My character ran foward and was attacked immediately by the black dragon's dragonfire. After the dragon fire and 1 melee attack, I was dead. I would assume similar results when getting loot as well. icecube
where is zanaris, and do you need any requirements for evil chickens, thanks Zanaris is the fairy city that's used in the Lost City quest. You get there by weilding a Dramen Staff (or lunar), and going through this empty shack in the middle of Lumbridge Swamp. The Evil Chicken's lair is used in the Recipe for Disaster Quest (Legends Subquest), and you have to have finished or be doing that subquest to gain access. To get in, simply use a raw chicken on the chicken shrine right behind the place you appear when you first arrive in Zanaris.
