Apache problem

Hello everyone

I have installed Apache on my system perfectly, I can access the files in my root directory great, but I am having a big problem. I want people who are not connected to my network to be able to view my files by simply typing in my IP address. I am aware that ports need to be open on my router and I currently have port 80 open. This still not works, any help will be greatly apperciated.

Thanks in advance to anyone who contriutes.

in your config file, you'll have to set the allow/deny, and also do the same thing for your software firewalls.

On the side, I wouldn't suggest using your personal machine as a web server.

You'd be beter off getting a cheapo machine, putting linux on it, and setting up the enviroment on that.

Thanks so much for the reply. In return, could you be more specific about the config file. I am not sure what I am supposed to do with it. Also, thanks for your advice on the Server, I will keep it in mind for later and maybe will move to linux on a new computer soon. Thanks in advance for any more support.

Some ISPs also actively block inbound port 80 before it reaches your network (My current ISP does this) to prevent hosting of servers like that on residential lines. :?

Just another factor you may have to account for.

(I have no experience with configuring apache, so I'm no help there :( )
