November 21, 200619 yr been playing about with some 3d modeling software (milkshape) and saw a comp on rsc challenging you to design a character, so i did, in 3d =) comments welcome, also feel free to rate /10 PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
November 22, 200619 yr I like the background but why does the angel have such a low amount of polygons? I have no idea what options milkshape has, but i'm pretty sure you are able to increase the amount of edges or make it smoother there unless it's a free/trial version software.
November 22, 200619 yr Author the way i use milkshape i make every polygon my self, and theyre all triangles. it costs like $30 so nothing top range but its decent. another note on the amount of polys, the more you have the bigger the file is and the slower everything reacts, in most 3d models, for example used in games, they try to keep the number of polys as low as posable, for faster run times. whle this model, at the moment, couldnt be used for a game it could be changed to do so (but fairly complex) and so it would have a fairly low amount of polys, hence a faster run time. oh and a quick note fo those who care there are 1075 polys, so yeah there isnt a small amount. however theres probably as many triangles in a sword hilt as there are in a wing, so it may just be that they arent used in all the right places. meh. November 23, 200619 yr Every polygon by itself? What kind of program is that? Althrough milkshape is cheap compared to other software (3ds max 9.0 costs 2500 $ to get a license for example(Unless you get a Russian edition (if you catch my drift :)) ). I believe than drawing every polygon by itself is extremely inefficient. This is an example of how it is done in 3dsMax 9.0 which I'm currently using: http://rapidshare.com/files/4464130/bowl1.avi.html ^High quality version, you can actually read the letters! ^Youtube version... You can't read the letters!
November 23, 200619 yr I like the swirling background but yes, the polygon count seems a bit low. The main problem I have is that the hood is too angular so it looks more like a helmet. Also the swords don't have a really metallic looking sheen, not sure if you can change that or not.
November 23, 200619 yr well..i don't know if its a good thing or a badthing but that looks totally runescape  Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board!
November 23, 200619 yr dude i suggest u use blender3d its free and pwns milkshape wikibooks has one awesome tut on it ( something by the name of blender3d : noob to pro or something like that )
November 24, 200619 yr Author ive tried blender, daz, anim8tor lots of free of cheap programs (in my price range). and i found i most liked milkshape, i like the freedom it gives you know you can change anything yourself and make anything providing you have the time =) as i said ive tried blender and others but thats using other peoples worl alot, which i dont like to do, i like to be origianl, or as much as you can be anyway. just downloaing the vid now, about to check it out, gimme a sec... ok that didnt work o0 doing youtube now... argh its not working. recently updated my pc wityh new harddrive and everything so yeah it doesnt have much of the stuff it used to have and its all very complex, well, just differet i guess. meh. meh either way im sticking with milkshape for the time being, untill i find that Russian edition =P also with alot of 3d programs its like doing a shape then modyfying it, i dont partiuarly like that either, i know im weird but yeah thats just me =P PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2
