coldvenom
Currently I am shopping for a speaker system for listening to music and stuff on my computer and for sound for my PS2. I have selected this one because it is well within my price range(about $300.): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 1826208094 I can't tell from looking at the product page if it needs cables to connect the speakers together and I need a cable to connect it to my computer. Which cables should I get? sig by me avatar by: born2dieMy Website -> Coldvenom.CO.NR <- My Website
mikercool
Get the best Altec Lansing you can get for $300. They sound great and last for ever (Might I add seems to be waterproff(Cup of water nocked over...). You will need to buy no extra cables. I manly listen to highend recorded CDs and would only choose a Altec Lansing. (David Gilmour, Brian Eno...) *Edit* KLH is not that good. BestBuy doesn't seem to have Altec Lansings highend stuff... Try Comp-Usa for it... *Edit2* This is what I have used for last 3 years... http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=SEARCH&Ntt=altec+lansing&N=12&Ne=500000&Ns=display%5Fprice%7C0&Ntk=All&product_code=50767662&Pn=FX6021_Powered_Audion_2_1_Stereo_Speaker_System
Cruiser
1) The Altec set you link to is only a 75 watt system. The KLH set he originally asked about is a 550 watt system (5 100w satelites and 1 50w Sub). 2) The KLH set is 5.1, your Altec is 2.1. 3) Those tall, white Altec speakers look like crap. Coldvenom: Looking at the rear picture found here you will need some standard speaker wiring and some kind of composite cable to plug into your sound card. Not sure where to find the speak -> computer cable atm.

Cruiser
It is 200Watts, shows how much you know about Soundsystems... I'm sorry I missed that little "per speaker" tidbit. Want a cookie for knowing how to correct a multiplication error? Like I said, I listen to stuff like David Gilmour... Not everyone needs or wants a $200 speaker system to listen to Pink Floyd. My $40 logitech set does perfectly fine for my uses (including music). This Altec Lansing Set has a total of 13 Speakers! KLH is 6 total̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ And my Logitech set has 4, puts out great sound in my opinion, so what's your point? Watts and 5.1 and such doesn't mean sh*t. For someone that isn't an uptight audiophile, yes it does. Why do you think he picked the set he picked? Maybe, just MAYBE he has uses for it beyond what you assume. If you get a Altec Lansing you will hear high quality sound, not some KLH set-up that has 6 Speakers that sound like really Bassy Dog Farts. You're beginning to sound like an Altec shill. Make some better points than calling the sound a "dog fart", people might actually listen to you. Stop babbling about your experiences with them and help the guy find his freaking wires. mikercool
:shame: Logitech = Mouse KHL = Sh*t Altec Lansing = Quility I would never sell a KHL at my store... David Gilmour - On an Island...
blade995
Well if you had a store you would be out of business pretty fast. Logitech speakers are very good, same as KHL. I bet if we put you blind folded (so you don't see what speaker set it is) in a room playing the same song on those 2 sets of speakers you would not notice a difference. Tell me something, what sound card do you have in your computer? Take your fanboy thoughts elsewhere.
mikercool
Well if you had a store you would be out of business pretty fast. We have been around for almost 30 years. Next year will be are 30th anniversary, and for the last 4 years we have been competing with ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅTweeter̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà
Cruiser
So I was right, you are an Altec shill, trying to sell anyone you can into the highest priced set you can find. Not everyone is an audiophile and not everyone cares about the exact pitches and tones from their speakers. They just want it to sound good without breaking their bank account. If he wanted perfect sounding speakers, he definitely wouldn't be posting here asking for cables. Logitech also makes much more than mice, just so you know. The guy asked for wires for god's sakes, not for some audio sales men to pitch him a new speaker set. They just want it to sound good without breaking their bank account. So he doesn't care about "Pitches and Tones", he just wants something the sounds good. If the "Pitches and Tones" are off then it won't sound good. Because our Operation is somewhat small we can offer lower prices with less mark-up then big chain stores. $200 is not that much to pay for the quility. *Edit* Well I know Logitech make other stuff, I have there "Momo" Wheel for "Need-For-Speed" and I have been using one of their Trackball Mouse for over 5 years. coldvenom
woah, this turned into a flame war.... The reason I want a 5.1 system is for surround sound. I was searching around the CompUSA website and I found this system that sounds nice: http://www.compusa.com/products/product ... i#moreinfo It looks like it doesn't need cables and from talking to my computer teacher, Logitech is a good brand(he has logitech speakers on his computer) The system I found is 5.1 and thats what I want. It is also under $300 so it is the right price. sig by me avatar by: born2dieMy Website -> Coldvenom.CO.NR <- My Website
mikercool
I would only use a Logitech Mouse; I am not saying they are a bad company. I am saying a set of Altec Lansing's FX6021 Powered Audion 2.1 Stereo Speaker System will give you a better sound experience. Like I said before, you would rather have a 2 Towers and a Sub that put out great sound then 5 Satellites and a Sub that sound really bad (Unless you like to listen to dogfarts in 5.1 on CD that is, if so then this KHL is the system for you). *Edit* Logitech Z-5450 is $250... Altec Lansing's FX6021 is $200, and sounds like 10 times better. *Edit2* Eliminate the clutter of rear speaker wires! The Logitech Z-5450 digital speaker package includes dual wireless rear speakers for simple, clutter-free installation. Satellite speaker stands rotate for easy wall mounting. Wireless is not something to look for on Speakers. It always sounds bad!
