Rednik
I've read that you can mine a sepcial rock in shilo village that only gives you gem's... And I think this is pretty cool so I wanna be a member. But first I wanna know some things about these "Gem rocks". How fast do you get a gem? I have mining lvl 71, Is it like iron, coal or addy-speed? Is the place crowded all the time so you have to fight for the rocks? Does it take long time for the rock to "respawn"? icecube
I'd say the speed varies between an iron and a coal rock. Sometimes I can one-hit, other times it takes a few hits. I'm only 66, so you'd get it faster most likely. Most of the time, the world will have someone in it already. But after some world hopping, you can usually find an empty world. The rocks respawn pretty fast. If you have them all to yourself, it'd take maybe 10-30 seconds for the 1st rock to respawn after you 'kill' the last one. I may be off on this respawn time though, been a while since I mined there.
Rednik
Great! Also, Is there a good gold mining place in the members world where it isn't very crowded? I would also like to know a good place to get whool, Thanks.
icecube
Best place to mine gold is in the Gold Vein from the "Between a Rock" Quest. It has A LOT of gold rocks/veins to mine, and is usually empty. You'll also need a Ring of Charos (A) to maximize the amount of gold ores you get. You'll need to finish Creature of Fenkenstein and Garden of Tranquility to get a Ring of Charos (A). Basically you go into the Gold Vein (need to wear a gold helmet), and mine gold ores until you're full and then take off your helmet to get out. Walk east to a dwarf who can transport your ores to the bank. With the Ring of Charos (A), he'll take 3 gold ores as payment, as opposed to the 5 he would take normally. The general store in Ardougne sells balls of wool, if that's what you're looking for.

tripsis
I would argue that the best place to mine gold is in Brimhaven. First create a house in Brimhaven. Near the portal for POH (south and a bit to the west) there are about 8 gold rocks. You can mine your gold, teleport to Edgy or CWS to bank, then teleport back to your house in Brimhaven and walk back to the gold  - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

salim123
well with gem rocks u usaly get opal, topaz and red topaz then there is a rarer change to get the REAL gems so u will get at least 1 gem 1/30 around there
tripsis
There are also ways to get gems other than mining them. You can steal them, for example. There is a gem stall (slow for getting gems, but still available) and in the Rogue's Den. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
salim123
what about the gem stall in ardug?
tripsis
what about the gem stall in ardug? It's not really worth it :P The stall takes about 4 minutes to respawn. Only worth stealing from if you're alching or something  As I posted earlier, I hear the Rogue's Den thieving game (or whatever it is  ) is good for gems. I haven't tried it myself though. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
alkatmsu
I like the gem rocks... I take a chisel with me, and cut all the gems I get. P2P gems I cut into bolt tips, then I keep all the F2P gems and bank them. Making the tips gives a bit of fletching xp, and you can then sell them or make bolts out of them later. curmudgeony
Some caution with the gems, the shilo rocks, while good, are also slow in giving you craftable gems. The ratio of craftable gems to bolt gems is pretty low. The safes in Rogues den drop fair amounts of gems, but again more coins then gems. The good part about them is that they have little or no respawn time. Only downside is failing damages you. Also you need to be both 50 agility and thieving to be able to buy the stereoscope
