nomar04
i tried to rune Call of Duty 2 the other day in multi player, but it could not connect to any of the servers. i then tried to play it on single player, and it would only give me a black screen. when it gave me the black screen, i watched my computer in the windows task manager. it showed the cpu working at about 50%, but the RAM dropped down below 1 thousand bytes a few times, then went back up. i have 512 MB of ram, which is twice the minimal requirement. it used to work fine when i got it almost a year ago, but now it doesn't work at all ill post a HJT log, because i might have too many unneeded exe files running and its eating up all my ram Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 12:39:04 PM, on 12/17/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.5730.0011) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\services[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite\eTrust EZ Antivirus\ISafe[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\SpywareDetector\SDService[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite\eTrust EZ Antivirus\VetMsg[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\Explorer[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\jusched[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel Photo Album 6\MediaDetect[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1134944903\ee\AOLSoftware[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite\caissdt[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite\eTrust EZ Antivirus\CAVTray[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Internet Security Suite\eTrust EZ Antivirus\CAVRID[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\DIGStream\digstream[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\ESPNRunTime\DIGServices[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\SpywareDetector\SDSystemTray[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon[Caution: ExecutableFile] C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Yahoo! nomar04
everything is updated, and i tried playing it again the other day, and it loaded the game, but it wouldn't load any maps. it also took almost 15 minutes to load the game, but the maps didn't show any progress that it was loading, so i had to quit. blade995
Are you trying to play multiplayer or singlelayer? If multiplayer, your firewall could be blocking the game. Try loading up singleplayer and see if it works.
nomar04
single player wont load the maps, and my firewall doesn't block any call of duty files that need to be downloaded to play on a server. it used to work fine, but it seems to have been getting slower all the time until it doesnt work any more. and if anyone feels like it could they check the hjt log for me plz
coltm4carbine
Log looks good. You might want to update your java though. Also I believe your running 2 antivirus. Uninstall one, or at least make sure it's resident scanner isn't running (basically not running at start-up). can't help you with the game, though. P.S could it be to do with another program that you have installed? I know BF2 doesn't work for me when I run a specific program.
Sin81
Mine don't work anymore either, prob because the game admin completly blocked me, same happened with number 1.
